I think it might skip this year, Ken. I would have expected it to bloom around December.

I wonder how Jim's plant is doing? Hopefully it was not too different in its requirements from his other Orchids.

Ken, no I'm up on the ozark plateau. Nice weather too, tornado two days before Xmas one mile away and then 7 inches of rain right after. And Jan tops that so far with 10 inches a week later and 13 people died in Missouri with that one. Wow!

Wow, your nunnies are coming along like crazy, Gigi. Mine have slowed down since we had 3 nights of very cool temperatures. A few more coming along this week, too!

That's actually a coco fiber Lindsey. I cut it in half, formed a cone (like ice cream cone) and glued the sides dry. Once dry I filled it up with my Catts and orchid bark and tied it around the oak tree. My hope is that, overtime, the roots will grow around the coco fiber and attach itself to the oak tree so there is no more need for the ties. I'm already seeing roots around the coco fiber and on the oak tree.

Oh I did left a few holes on the cut sem so that the roots will be able to escape and attach to the oak tree.

I was going to ask how you did that Big Grin The Catts are obviously pretty happy in their coco fiber cones - great idea!

Those nun orchids are going to be gorgeous - can you leave those outside in Central Florida?

I believe so Ibis, nun orchids can be planted in the ground in our area but needs to be protected from frost. However, this was given to me by a friend so I just keep it in the pot so if we have a frost I can bring it in our covered lanai.

Ellaine, this will be my first multiple blooms of my nuns. If I'm not mistaken I've had this for 4 years.

Nun orchids do fine in the ground here until it gets into the low 30's then they have to be covered.
