I totally agree with this. I believe that it is the State of Tennessee that just passed a law regarding animal abusers. They will be fined, published as an animal abuser, and forbidden to own any more animals. This is something that every state should do.

Today's photographs are about light and shadow.

60 here today, 35 on saturday.

Lovely warm, windy day, here. Even more lovely because...they are gone; finished getting their belongings out an hour or so ago. They were going to stay three weeks. I am thinking they left after only three days because the boyfriend didn't care for my expectation that he look for a job while here and wasn't going to be able to watch DVDs until 2 in the morning, then sleep until noon. Also, they didn't get full run of the house--use of the kitchen and bathroom, all else to be kept in their room--living room was my territory and I t'weren't about to share it. And, after overhearing the boyfriend nonchalantly tell Shorty they were going to do ALL their laundry while here (we are talking three large leaf bags full), I found an opportunity later to make it clear--politely--I would have difficulty paying the increased utilities with them at the house and to please keep laundry to just what they need to go along, help me be conservative where we could. Annnnnd, that if the kids were in the house, one of them had to be in the house at all times. Double annnnnd, no cable TV (and their rabbit ears antenna didn't work in that room). Triple annnnnd, they had to clean up after themselves as they went along--no leaving dirty counters or dishes in the sink for days on end (which is what they did last year when they stayed). I might have liked Shorty and the kids staying longer, but the boyfriend. ACCKKKK! Don't know how sister talked her husband into letting them all back over to sister and his house, but I do know he is NOT happy about it...

As for me, I am tired, relieved...and wondering how long it will be this time before those Sesame Street songs stop playing in my head.

Whew! I feel so relieved for you, Debra. Sounds like you handled it quite well in enforcing your rules. He's gone!

Short stay. Good for you but bad for sister that they are all heading back there. I don't understand how this group of people get to mooch off either of you and not work for themselves.

We discussed everything (except the laundry) before I agreed to let them stay. I am different from my sister in that I expect them to honor their agreements and will enforce them if necessary. Sister never does. Saddens me to say I think she has this neurotic need to keep them all dependent on her. My fear is that she will drive her husband away by insisting on keeping them right at her side and he is the only truly good thing that has ever happened to her. AND she is crippling the kids by not letting them learn to take care of themselves.


Okay, enough, there. I am going to sleep early tonight, going to enjoy another mild day tomorrow, then look forward to having lunch with my sister and her husband at TGIFriday's on Saturday in honor of sister's birthday (January 28). They are taking me to World Market, too, so I can get some specialty soaps for my friend in New Jersey whose birthday is the first part of February. Haven't been there in about three years, so this will be fun!
