Mine was blooming well into December. It looks a little scraggly after Summer but it's survived a couple of droughts. It's semi-evergreen here until we have a bad icestorm. Thumbs up

I haven't seen this variety offered before. Sounds like a good one.

'Blue Bedder' is one of the older Salvia farinacea varieties that can usually be found for sale as seed even in the big-box stores.

I love this cute little salvia. It blooms all summer here and continues to bloom until a deep freeze. It may go dormant, but comes back from the roots if mulched.

I started mine from seed. I just threw the seeds out onto unamended soil and they actually sprouted and thrived. Thumbs up

@Danita

Thank you for the info. I'll look for it in some of the stores around here.

@Deebie

Thank you for the info. What do you use to mulch the plants?

@TexasPlumeria87

Thank you for the info. That's what I'll do - direct sow and hope the wild rabbits don't eat the seedlings unless I direct sow the seeds into a tall enough container that they can't hop into to.

I'll either use shredded oak leaves, mini pine nuggets or pine straw for mulching. Whatever is available. Marilyn you mentioned rabbits eating the seedlings. I hadn't thought of that. Blinking I had a family of rabbits running across my yard all summer like they owned the place. And DH just laughs when he shows them to me. Grumbling

I hope the rabbits stay away from your seedlings when they sprout? I've never seen a rabbit in my garden, but I think the feral cats keep them away?
