The wind is gusting to 54km/hr (34miles/hr).
This is a glorious shrub, Hibiscus splendens. It has lots of seedlings which I give to the native plant people.

Glen is your native iris what we call walking iris Walking Iris (Neomarica gracilis) or Walking Iris (Neomarica candida)? I have some, but hesitate to plant mine outdoors, although the database says that it's hardy to zone 8a. Shrug!

Deebie, you are right. It is not native here. The iris people say it is an African iris, too, Neomarica gracilis. I like the name Walking Iris. That is just what it does!
