Sounds good to me! A winter of no real cold (or at least not much) and no snows seems perfect to me.

I am wondering what day temps you all call mild. I checked a couple of weather sites for your locations and mine and the temps seem about the same.

None of my bulbs have emerged and, of course, the doe ate anything that might have a bloom.

I am not even tempted to work outside. It's been raining or drizzling or snowing almost every day for the last two months. Not our usual heavy rains, but enough to keep the soil saturated.

I am wondering if it is my Socal blood that makes me think it's too cold to work outside, or something else since the temps seem to be about the same ... Confused

Lyn, we had an amazingly warm December. Here in DC, it was 11 degrees above average for the month, which broke the old record by several degrees.

We regularly had highs in the 60s and 70s, which is just ridiculous for December. I think we had only a couple of days with lows that were below freezing.

It's now seasonably cold, but Sunday was pretty mild and sunny at 54*. It's definitely too cold today!

Thanks for the compliments... it only took me 5 years to change my avatar from the old photo from when I still had long hair, LOL. That red-shirt photo is from a year ago, after a fun hour spent decorating gingerbread houses with Joyanna's kindergarten class. She tried to get an updated photo for me at Christmas, but she has a thing for macro shots... one picture showed just my teeth!

OK ... that explains it, Robin. My day temp highs have been in the low 40s to mid 30s. Of course, that means it hit the 40s for about 3 hours. Night temps have been around 20F.

At least this week, night temps are moving up to the 30s. Towards the middle of the month, days temps should get up to the low 50s.

It's nice to know I am not a complete wuss ... just kind of a wuss ... Smiling

That's a humorously close-up shot, but at least it shows off your blue eyes! Thumbs up

Lyn, Catmint20906 is Robin (she also lives in Silver Spring). My name is Terri, but I prefer to just go by SSG/SS/ssgardener in the forums, because there is already another Terri (aspenhill), and it'd be too confusing for me! Smiling

MariposaMaid, Welcome! Don't even try and read the whole thread just jump in on the last or next to last page. Reading 1 or 2000 post is not required by anyone. Hilarious!
SSG, we should try and coordinate a trip, we have done so in the past with Longwood being one of the more memorable.

No problemo, Lyn. Big Grin

I'm always confusing myself because Sally and Catmint both have similar-colored flower avatars, and Ric's avatar here on ATP is Holly's avatar over at DG!

I guess I need to start reading and stop relying on pictures, but I'm a visual learner! Hilarious!

Ric, that sounds great!

I'm so surprised that the crocus blooms are still looking ok, after that one night when it went down to 15 degrees!

And of course the hellebores are still looking beautiful.

Okay so I thought ATP might have posted one of my pictures on the home page. Which is funny because I have added zero to extremely few pix here. But no- there is a Salvia cv named SallyG.

Plant it and they will come.

Sally, you NEED to get that one LOL. I just looked it up in Plant Files - SallyG is a trademark for a group of salvias - looks like there are six of them. On second thought, you need ALL of them, especially the "Groovy" named one . Rolling on the floor laughing
