Awesome! A few of mine are blooming, but it's one in each clump, lol! Not very picturesque...

And, some of them are in my garden too, no matter how many times I transplant them out.

So my row of paste tomatoes is all planted out. I was planning on 4 San Marzano Retortas but cutworms and slugs got two of them so there is less than I wanted to have. But I just filled in with my other varieties and I am sure it will all end up good.

I have SMR, Speckled Roman, Yellow Icicle and Black Icicle. I just added more plants of the other varieties to fill in. I am sure there will be plenty for cooking.

I am editing to add sometimes things don't go exactly according to plan. But it will all be fine anyway.

Rita,
I plant all my tomatoes in coffee cans. No cutworms ever get mine. Actually, I know we have corn cutworms, but when I bare planted tomatoes I never seemed to lose any.

I used to plant all mine in plastic drink cups that I buy in the supermarket in a big package. But I haven't had any cutworm problems at all in the past two years and just plain planted the tomatoes those years. So I didn't expect cutworm problems but apparently they are back.

After the cutworm damage I am now planting all mine with the plastic cups again. I cut off the bottoms and put it over the tomato plant. Slightly stuck into the ground. A pain to do and work with all these cups but it stops those darn cutworms.

So afew days ago I was looking on line at tomato seeds. I found a paste type that I thought sounded like just what I was looking for. And then I lost it!! I forgot the name and couldn't find where I had seen it.

Today I got lucky and found it again. It is called De Barao. Going to try it next season. A red roma shaped for salsa and sauce.

I already have a seeds to get list for next year. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Rita--you REALLY need to step away from the seed catalogs and seed internet sites. At some point, we'll have to do an intervention Rolling on the floor laughing

I think I'm seeing a problem ... the friends are also seed addicts! Our "intervention" will probably be to take Rita's seeds away and plant them ourselves Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

Yep--planning ahead is an admirable quality, Rita. Thumbs up

I have to admit that I love planning for not only our plant sale selections, but also our demonstration herb bed and my own personal garden. Sometimes it seems overwhelming, but I also love the chance to try something new each year and try to introduce the public to something they may not be familiar with. I always try to highlight a new herb, or some special "container-type" veggies, or some unique heirloom tomatoes. I love when repeat customers come to our plant sale and says "what do you have new for me this year?" So I'm always on the lookout for something new.

I know we tease you Rita (and you take it in stride)--but you just express what so many of us already do. I love your enthusiasm, and hope you don't lose that any time soon. We need more enthusiastic home gardeners. I so enjoy your excitement at learning to start seeds this year! Starting plants from seeds is my favorite thing to do, too.
