What browser do you all use on your computers? It has been months since I am able to post and actually finish it and send it. Months ago @Dave posted me a question but I was not able to complete our conversation if I recall. I am so frustrated. I have missed my friends when I needed them most. I think it may be Firefox since I am using Chrome just now and (the screen just jumped up and I thought it was going to go away) so far so good. I am honestly not sure what to do. I had Windows 7 removed and reinstalled. I do not want to go to Windows 10 unless I must. There was a problem, but even now this post is the first in two days that I am able to finish. I would appreciate some feedback...I miss ATP so much.
Thank you ........... Hurray! I finished this. Wow.

I use Firefox and have no difficulty. And I like Windows 7, too. Have you checked your computer for viruses or malware?

Edited to add: If you just had Win 7 reinstalled, I wonder if your computer is still downloading updates. I just bought a new computer with Win 7 and it took several days for all the system updates to download and install.

JB, so sorry to hear about your computer issues, I've missed seeing you post here on ATP and I know others have as well! In this day of technology, we sure get used to communication through our computers don't we? I know we miss our friends when we can't visit on a regular basis and chat so I hope your computer problems are resolved quickly!

I wish I had some suggestions for you but I am very technically challenged. We only have Mac's in our household (which are Non-Windows systems) but I use Firefox most often and Chrome as well (and sometimes Safari too) without any problems. We have high speed internet service via our cable company and my husband (who is the technical person in our family) thought the speed wasn't as fast as it should be and he said the Router was old so he bought a new one and installed it ... and even I noticed the difference!

I hope whatever was going on with you computer was just a minor glitch and that all stays well from here on!

It took days for all the drivers and updates to install and I have still had a problem. I think it is Firefox but can not be sure. I may just remove it and reinstall it and see if that helps. We had a sudden electrical problem caused by JCP&L and I lost my computer even with a surge protector. Now I have a backup for that...I forget what you call it but it will save my computer. I also lost my microwave convection oven....it blew out the entire electrical system. I had to buy a new one. This computer has been practically remade due to that and then windows updates got corrupt somehow on my Windows 7 and then I had to have it removed and reinstalled again. Another $550.00 ....I am on chrome now but not too good at using it. I am so used to Firefox but I honestly think that is the problem. I have had the same problem with AOL, Facebook and Paypal using Firefox.
This is just wonderful that I have been able to send two messages without a problem. I am going to try and visit some of my old forums and see what happens. Thanks for your input.

Jacquie, here's one workaround if your computer keep s crashing or losing its connection while you type:

1. Keep some document open as you read ATP. Something like Notepad or MS Word or an Open Office document editor.

2. When you want to post to ATP, type it out FIRST in Notepad or Word.

3. Copy the text that you just typed, into the Clipboard: Ctrl-C).

4. Paste it into ATP (CTRL-V) and immediately hit "Finished".

Even if you lose your connection in-between hitting "CTRL-V" and "Finished", you still have what you typed in Notepad and can try again after logging back into ATP.

(But you probably already know that.)

@JB do you know how old your version of Firefox is; I wonder if it would help to upload the newest version? https://support.mozilla.org/en...

Firefox usually updates itself, but it's certainly worth trying!

*Blush* I had no idea ... I am so challenged when it comes to technical stuff. I get messages popping up on my Macbook every so often saying something about new updates available. I've had this laptop for quite awhile now and I think the updates are from Apple but I don't pay much attention, I just click "Later" ... I haven't accepted any updates yet. Green Grin! I use Firefox all the time and I think I remember my husband updating me to a newer version recently ... maybe it's not automatic on a Mac?

In the settings for Firefox you can choose either automatic updates, to check for updates but ask before installing, or to never check fo updates. I have mine set to let me know when there is an update but to not install it until I allow it.

What exactly happens, does Firefox close while you're using it?

I have the latest update on Firefox and at times it even happens with Chrome. I am wondering would the mouse I am using have anything to do with it? It is one of those laser Logitech that plugs in. I just ordered a simple wireless mouse a few days ago and I am hoping that is the problem. It seems when I pick up the mouse to move the screen, it goes away and I can not even get to the bottom to save anything. I am so stupid when it comes to this stuff but at my age I am lucky I am still alive, much less have a computer problem. Rolling on the floor laughing

I have a little Logitech wireless mouse. Works fine, but it does eat batteries! But all that happens for me, when the battery gets low, is that the cursor won't move or starts jumping around. Is that what's happening?

No, I am not using a wireless just now. I am waiting for it to come. Mine has a 2 yr. battery...I hope it is true. The one I have now is so fast I had to slow it down on my settings....I just finished a post to you a few minutes ago and I picked it up and lost the post. It must be the stupid mouse. I am going to try again.

In order not to loose the post I had to slowly move the wheel in the center and carefully get to the bottom to send it. What are your thoughts about that?

In your control panel there should be settings for how sensitive you want your mouse movement. Perhaps check that out.

Hmm. I've never had this sort of problem. It does sort of sound like your mouse is being flakey, tho. Hope the new one works out for you! I love my wireless mouse (actually mice, I have several and amazingly they don't interfere with one another!) Can't imagine what else it could be. Do you have this same problem on other websites?
