Did you pot them all up even the one with the dark mark?
I am assuming that you do not get bright hot sunlight through the window? If you do, you need to put something (piece of sacking, shade cloth) on the side facing the window. The creamy white part of newly exposed caudex is sensitive to sun and can burn. If in a low lit area it should not be an issue.

In the room they stay in now there is not much light. Yes I did pot them all. I got a note from Sundaram and he did say it is not rot. So I guess I can trust that. Now they are nicely potted.

I am happy that he got back to you, Willeke. He is aware of his trees and their health.
You will enjoy them very much. I really enjoy their different growth characteristics and the nice wide caudex's they get.

Sundaram identified the tree I am using as my Avatar right now for me. I received it from a very nice gentleman close to my home with no ID.

Yes I am glad to know it is not rot. I did put them higher with the roots exposed so that the caudex is more visible. I am also glad that I do know the types I have.
Good that Sundaram was able to identify your avatar tree. Always nice to know. I guess different types do need different care?

They say that Arabicums are a bit more tolerant to cool than the obesum. I treat mine all the same.
Outside of my seedlings and juveniles.

I could not answer just how long to budding, Willeke. I have only ever had one of my trees bloom (TS + Arabiucm) Golden Crown + Arabicum.
Seedlings all still too young, I think.

So much depends on each of our own climates in which we live. If you are able to grow them all year round outside with good heat and sun, then they respond and grow much faster. Longer growing season. Not sure if given artificial light during the winter months for us would serve the same purpose.
For those of us that can only give 6 months of high temperature and sunlight, then we experience the growing at a much reduced rate. Still can happen, but we need a bit more time.

We each make do with what we have.

This is the tree which bloomed for me. It is from Rinoa. I received it in late summer of 2015 and had it out in full sun, brought it in and put it under my lights. Did not start pushing out leaves until I had brought it inside and under lights. Then I notices a bud forming. Much to my surprise and delight, I received a bloom.

I thought the Adenium were monotypic and that each and every one was an obesium, with var. and subv. Is that wrong?

There is much dibate about this Ken. Many would argue that there are different species. The "taxonomists' state that they are actually monotypic and each one was an obesum. Many of the experts, Botanists and other people w Phd's have argued this with much dibate.
I and many speak of the Adeniums in terms of A. obesum, A. swazicum, A. bohemianum, etc., being different species. This may be wrong by some, but not by the way many view through out the world.
You are correct in your statement by this ATP site and it has been visited with them.

This I will not even venture into. Too much information to debate.

Willeke, I just wanted to pass along about the Turmeric question. I did hear back from an acquaintance in India and they use the Turmeric on upper most branches and root (hung to dry for a week or so depending on the severity of site). He and others use it. It has anti-bacterial purposes as well as many others.

I will try it out one day. They are very knowledgeable and would not give out this information unless it has worked for them.

It is not important to me @RCanada, that is simply the information I have. I have submitted a couple of articles on Adenium. I stated that the Adenium were monotypic. I would change that statement if necessary. I certainly don't know what's correct. I guess I will let the scientists argue that point. I have enough trouble dealing with the nomenclature changing throughout the orchid families. Taxonomy seems to rule the day when it comes to orchids. It has been a pain in the b*** having to change my labels. Sighing!

Great-looking trees. I'm sure you know to rotate them occasionally so the stems will not stay leaning toward one direction.

Willeke,
Yes, turning is a good idea, but you will not have to be concerned with your new trees until they start leafing out. Having the caudex shaded at first from strong sun will more important so they do not burn. Easiest just to place something in front of pot to shade. Do not want to wrap the caudex. Have seen people wrap and end up with issues.
Really looking forward to seeing them leaf out for you. Looks like some others are enjoying trees from Sundaram also.
