I found a magnet that had that saying and liked it so much, that I decided to 'add it'. It's not 'original' from me. Whistling

Not too pretty, but I put them in the ground. I need to remulch this area.

Agastache Acapulco Pink & Salmon with Agastache Coronado Yellow
Thumb of 2012-08-30/Skiekitty/01d35f

The Coronado Yellows I got from a local nursery (Tagawa's) for $7.50 each. The saliva & Pink & Salmon are the ones I got for $3.33 ea. I had put almost 100% of everyone I got into the ground.. I need to get 3 more to make the thing complete in the back. I'm alternating these with Spirea Magic Carpet lining my walkway in the back yard.. that way I have something pretty 3 of the 4 seasons (not as hot, hotter than hell, still friggin hot, winter).

Tabby - Look at this video I made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... I had posted this on the roses forum when Steve & I were talking about bluebeards. My bluebeards in the back have EXPLODED .. like, exploded exploded. Ridiculously exploded type exploded.

For instance: my pond area June 2011:
Thumb of 2012-08-30/Skiekitty/b9c7ef Thumb of 2012-08-30/Skiekitty/fa4aaa

Same angle, beginning of this month:
Thumb of 2012-08-30/Skiekitty/c5028e Thumb of 2012-08-30/Skiekitty/e1c14a

Pretty close to the same angle. The delphiniums didn't make the winter & I had to dig out & move the silvermounds as they were taking over the area too. This fall, once the bees go into hibernation for the winter (pretty close to as I don't have half as many bees now), I'll be moving every single bluebeard out of that area & putting them along my fence line.

Well, that's about the perfect place for bees. You've even got a water source, depending on what you put in the pond. I've got a few water gardens with fish and water lilies that the bees love since they need water as well as flowers.
I saw some native Hunt's bumble bees in the video as well as lots of honeybees.

Sorry about all the bee talk - I've got six hives out back so when I see gardens like this I think "bee food".

I haven't a clue on bees. I see big bees, I see a gazillion little bitty bees.. but they don't bother me so I don't bother them. Only problem is when I walk through that area, the bluebeards have actually taken over the path, so I ended up disturbing a LOT of bees every time I had to walk through. That's why I'm moving the bluebeards out of the way. That way, the bees can harvest all the pollen they want w/o me bothering them.

And the ponds have water & aquarium gravel in it. I don't buy koi because something keeps eating my fish. No bodies, just.. no fish. So I buy the cheap $0.25/feeders. That way, I'm not out much. I know that the mud dauber wasps have enjoyed me having the ponds.. they didn't have any problems with not having enough moisture at all.

There could be a lot of things eating your fish. I've have problems with racoons but they usually leave a head or something. Sometimes garter snakes eat the fish. My biggest problem was with herons and kingfishers so I had to put a large net over the pond. It's doesn't look too bad since the cage for the net is made from copper, and some of the fish are now a decade old.

I just have goldfish - pretty spotted ones. They're much easier on the water plants than koi.

I have a lot of paper wasps that also like the water. They aren't aggressive so I leave them alone. Unlike the yellow jackets. Grumbling

I'm thinking it's cats. My neighbor 3 houses away lets her cats roam around & they've been slaughtering my goldfinches. I've complained and complained about her cats killing off birds but "it's too hard to keep them inside". uh, honey, I've got more than 10 cats & they NEVER go outside. You're just too lazy to keep them inside (doggy door).

Got this picture (not too good) of a hummer visiting one of my agastache cana's this morning. I bought it (the agastache, not the hummer) as a teeny little pint cup last year. It's now about 3' in diameter.

I have Summer Glow as well (got that from a co-op on Cubits w/Mamajack) & yes, the Coronado Yellow is MUCH brighter than the Summer Glow. But I'm afraid of it reverting to the orange. I don't *mind* the orange, I just wanted the yellow here. The Summer Glow is a very buttery washed out yellow IMO. One of my LGS, Tagawa's, has the Raspberry Summer agastache and I was gonna snab a couple.. until I picked them up. NO SCENT!!! They have absolutely NO scent at all! WTH! I was SHOCKED 'cuz my Coronado you can smell literally 5 ft away & my Agastache cana you can smell close to 15 feet away (I can smell it when I'm in my doorway and the BIG cana I have is about 15 feet away). So I didn't pick any of the Raspberry Summers up .. what's the sense? I have the Coronado Reds, too, and they smell WONDERFUL.

Well, I ended up having an odd number of agastaches, do I ended going to 3 different HD last night... None to be had . Then, this afternoon, I went to a different one down in Denver proper rather than the suburbs & found two. Talked with DH & he suggested that I try one other HD. SCORE!!!! Picked up another 9 more for $3.33/ea. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
