Lights Camera Action was one I had a long time, but let it go last summer. I got tired of having to prop it up every year. Very weak stems, but a pretty bloom.

Passion Play is one that would not stand up to any stiff breeze. Here is a photo of it blooming from a stalk lying on the ground. I put a piece of ceramic tile under it to take the pic.

I have shared it away.

Romantic Voyage had huge horns and when opened it was not a bad bloom but I had to help many of the blooms open because the horns were tangled with the falls. I gave one start to a close friend so I can get a piece back if I wanted it. So far I have not wanted it back.

The colors on Hold My Hand were quite nice Tom. Lights Camera Action has not grown well for me. I may need to move it to a different location. It seems my tree ring iris aren't moving along very well.

Speaking of tree rings, I am concerned that tree roots are affecting my iris bloom. Several trees have begun to spread their roots over under my biggest iris bed and bloom seems to be affected, especially where my neighbor's huge pine is sending out gigantic roots that are too big for me to remove. I keep hoping that an ice storm will damage it so he will cut it down but last year's storm took the one on his other side, darn... Grumbling

Tree roots are persistent, and a persistent problem. My trees are so big that I am not going to win the battle. But every few years I can dig up all the iris, and remove all the tree roots and rootlets that are attracted to the nice rich garden soil. I plan to do this when it is time to divide a majority of iris anyway in a given garden.

Richard, there are probably lots of irises in that color range that would stand up better.

New Leaf went because it didn't grow very well here, and there are others that look a lot like it.

New Leaf looks like a luminata. I have a few and would probably not let any go until I have a nice collection of them.

Richard, Passion Play is a lovely flower and I would recommend it to anyone who does not mind staking the bloom stalks well before the blooms open. My stalks were always on the ground and the blooms opened on the side of the stalk facing the sky. I had to remember to stake it early. sigh Not what I consider a good garden iris.

I have a few irises that I will be moving out this summer. I would like the opinion of other irisarians as to which I should keep and why. These three are all similar in color and pattern. It is almost like having the same one planted in three places. They are all lovely but I am going to have to choose to make room for a completely different iris. Which one would you recommend I keep? smiles

Bonnie -- I would eliminate Exactitude first -- every picture of it shows open standards, and that is a look that I do not like.

Between the two others, I prefer Instructor. It's really a close call, but I prefer the form of it -- and that the fall has a white background, rather than cream.

Just one opinion, though............

Thanks, Mary Ann. They are so much alike in the garden that after the first one blooms the others, when they bloom, well, its not a thrill. I like for my garden to be thrilling. LOL

Bonnie -- I'm sorry -- I thought it was Leslie who posed the question. *Blush* I'll go back and edit my post.

I agree that there's no point in having duplicates -- especially since there are so many new, beautiful color combinations, etc.

I can see why you thought it was me Mary Ann, since I have all three. Unlike Mary Ann, the one I would keep is Exactitude. And the reason is that, at least in my garden, it has a lot more vibrant color than the other two when it opens. It does fade as it ages, but I really like that extra color. I do agree that Instructor and Tennessee Gentleman look very much alike. I would keep the one that grows better for you. In my case Tennessee Gentleman is doing better. When it comes time, I am sure I will gift away one or the other too.

I don't have any of them so I can't answer you. I think I remember someone asking about a No ID in another thread maybe 6 to 12 months ago. I wonder if that person should speak up and request a rhizome of each to check their No ID. Of course if they already did last summer this is pointless nodding

That's a tough one for me, because they all have a funky puce color that has an odd effect on me and also reminds me of one I got rid of- 'Bayberry Candle'. That puce color always put me in mind of a sinus infection and kinda turned my stomach, LOL. I mentioned that to Suzanne and she said now she'd be wiping her nose whenever she sees Bayberry Candle, Hilarious!

And so he posts a pic of his stomach turning iris! Didn't get sick while doing that did you Neal? Hilarious!

I have no such problem with said iris obviously. If we all did then this thread would be closed in a hurry.
