I don't know the names of mine either and we see very few butterflies other than the common ones.

So pretty!

Jon......This is from a very good source, and I quote:

"This looks like a female Papilio machaon hippocrates. Not sure what the common name for it is in Japan. It also occurs in North America, with various subspecies and is known as Old World Swallowtail."

Doris.... I know your first butterfly is a Tiger Swallowtail. I am not certain but I believe it is a Eastern species. Bugfiles on DG has these shown:
But on a regional search here only the Eastern shows to be in your area.

Fairly certain the other butterfly you pictured is a Pipevine ST.

Hi Sheila, Agehacho in Japanese, butterfly is cho or cho-cho.
