I thought that might be about that disease ,, I have had a few ,, icky yucky stuff ..

The one I did was a General purpose cell activator , being used for Gastropods
When it was refined I believe it was for Microbes ,, Been a while back ,, It was based on the 1947 DNA research in hopes of furthering Body identification ,

At the time as these became more categories ,it was also the plant color trace , etc known today as the White Petunia thing ,
How to activate cells was the needed then so you could become better at the "What do we have here " ? questions
I knew and had done a 5 point human identifier 1967 that is now the 13 or 14 point requirement ,,,

hmmmm...since MS media becomes more acidic over time (as the nutrients are used by the specimen). . .WHY wouldn't a strong buffering agent have been incorporated (in the SC thesis)? It's well known that soil planted hellebores prefer a nearly neutral soil...and abundant mulching with organic matter, especially with decomposing leaves or pine bark mulch: both of which acidify the underlying soil.. Gardeners routinely recomend and use lime chips or dolomite (lime) scattered around the base of the plant, without realizing that the two practices (OM and lime) cancel out soil pH effects to result in a net neutral soil pH.

Oh, I AM having fun!!! nodding But I realized that some of the things I'd taken for granted in a lab setting, make in-home TC of hellebores impractical. Sad I'll just have to wait until my little plants are big enough to divide! Sighing! Sighing!

Meanwhile, I can keep researching TC!! Thumbs up

lessee if I can do this. . .this is a pic of commercial horticural tissue culture

Nice photo! (I've been suspicious of "nurserymen" ever since a garden book from the 1940s ranted about how unscrupulous some "nurserymen" are. In fact, that book lambasted them as a group! But at least TC gives them a CHANCE to sell things under their right name.)

I wondered how you would arrange a sterile hood and constant temp and humidity.
Maybe vendors of mushroom kits would have something affordable? Like a big plastic bag with built-in gloves?

A local high school or college MIGHT loan or rent out lab space with an incubator, if asked creatively enough. Maybe in return for a guest lecture?

We have to accommodate the plants. They won't change their natures for us.

(how can I say this without sounding as gloomy as this subject makes me feel?)

My physical comdition forced me to retire early, as I could no longer even TEACH. When II couldn't continue working in research , I fell back to my second career field: teaching.

I CAN putter, though!! nodding Rolling on the floor laughing

Ouch, Bet! There was a whole forum over at the OLD Dave's Garden. "Accessible Gardening"? For people with physical handicaps.

That was super-depressing except for one thing: I no longer think of my legs as "handicapped". They have some very slight inconvenience.

Post GBS (Guillain-Barré Syndrome). Just weakness, really, especially in the lower legs and ankles, and hands and wrist. I was almost totally paralyzed for a month or so, and in a wheelchair for several months, but recovered around 80%.

As long as I can sit down frequently, and don't have to walk on an uneven surface, or climb a ladder, or much more than one flight of stairs, I do OK.

I don't think anyone who has spent any time in a spinal injury rehab center ever feels sorry for themselves again.

Indeed, there's only a few things I can't do, if there is a chair every few blocks, but unfortunately those include hiking in the woods.

oh in others ,, IAA IBA so on ,,
One I use to try was Chlorophyll with a food dye , the Dye or oil to cause the seep through seed coats or seed casings Starts processing light that way ,
Works with some cuttings also as I recall ..
I will keep going to define ,,
I put auxins with the ph mix and it made my little bamboo glossy , the large stems were something odd in the mix ,

I've done that, but carrying even more weight than my big butt makes walking harder. And light chairs tend to collapse under me.

Rick Looks like flat paths , sidewalks , and flat open back bench rests at the park it is ,, if someone drives and walks along with to there ,
I use to weigh about 230 , then when I got that stuff I dropped to 128 with everyone praying over me ,,
Haven't weighed over 170 since ,,
Don't take this being wrong ,, it is more at myself ,, but I would of rather stayed fat to start start with ,,

no bigger than I am , I like a good sturdy chair myself

My mind is looking and running Springtime ,, I am hoping and Hoping ,,

Next week warmer and a chance maybe to do some things ,

Red Runner beans to grow on Redbud trees for bright orange blooms mid summer Something to make people wonder when it works ,, Chance to do cutting and grafting ,,

who was the Doctor , counselor , who use to always say ?"" No Challenge is as small or as Large as it seems to be " It is only to be overcome "
Followed that last sometimes with " " or understood to be overcome "

I think it Manganese and Chlorophyll I use to "pop" seeds with for almost instant germination . Maybe another ingredient that went with that ,,

@jimard8 there's a guy (juhur aka JU) on the Propagation thread in Dave's Garden thatis doing TC and has some success with bamboo.

Problem-solving are I !! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing I stubbornly try to do things others tell me I can't...but with a little modificcation here, a tweak there, and some pure ol' stubbornness. . I can do most things myself Sticking tongue out

Z sure-fire way to get me to try something. . is to tell me I CAN'T!!

One of my advisors in college taught all his students a way to get around a nay-sayer: go ahead and do X, then when you're being "talked to" about it and told you should have asked permission first. . . apologize innocently and promise that the NEXT time you want to do X, you'll ask permission FIRST. The next time, go ahead and do X, then when you're being "talked to" about it and reminded you promised to ask permission first. . . apologize innocently for forgetting and promise that the NEXT time you want to do X, you'll ask permission FIRST. The next time, go ahead and do X. . . . . . . Angel Angel His advice was that it was easier to be forgiven for doing X than to get permission FIRST!!

Curiously, when one of us tried it with him. . he was NOT amused!!! Shrug!
