Even with the rain tomorrow, I had to water pots late today. We only selected patio tomatoes Saturday. I really wanted to try some of the more exotic ones, but I wanted to make sure DGS would be successful and enjoy the experience.
I see my co-op pkg was mailed today. I bought a lot of bulbs. I like that they usually come back each year.
Impact Austin is doing an article on our garden club. I had to submit photos for it without knowing what they were writing. Weird?

I watered my entry way containers since I put them in fast-draining soil. They're in the yard today getting drenched and the foxgloves are loving that. Smiling

I want to put in more bulbs but since we have such a short planting season, I won't get to take advantage of most of the ones I bought a few weeks ago. I ordered a bunch of daff bulbs from ebay and put them into the freezer to cold crash...and forgot about them for a couple of days. They mushed. Crying Really a shame too...they were all doubles and extremely fragrant.

My Chef Mike co-op plants came today. They were really packed well. Now if it'll just stop raining for a while so I can plant them. (Can I get arrested in Austin for saying something that inflammatory?) Whistling

Since you told me it is illegal to take someone's bagged leaves in Austin, I am sure there is some new bylaw about rain. Be careful, my friend! How big are the roots on the co op clematis?

Sandy, I need it to rain long enough to finish digging my trench! All my bulbs are stuck in their packages - still! And I have some lovely Hostas I want to put in the ground. ARGH!

Carey, I did the hosta co-op, planted the roots, and they're all up already! They are lovin' the rain!

Anna, I took some pics last night of the clems. but they're still waiting for the rain to stop. Look very healthy. Can hardly wait to plant 'em!

As for the rain restrictions, we just paid big bucks for an enormous orange sticker to place on our teeny water pump ( I guess to be seen from the air) at the lake, for pumping water two days a week for the yard from the lake. We'd have to make sure to be up there those two mornings every week. That would be okay, except that they already charge us over $50. for water each month that we don't use most months, except for flush. The water that used to be pulled from the lake is now from a well that causes the pipes to corrode. We don't drink it or cook with it. I finally think it's time to sell.

Central Texas...instead of solid planning many decades ago, they just assumed we'll always have plenty. Then water system customers are caught in the middle when things go bad. But at least the sun is out today and no rain! That helps my frame of mind.

Some serious weather around...news says tornado spotted near Natalia...that system is headed east, not north, so we should be okay. Hope all this breaks up soon and nobody is hurt!

I was out laying pots down after dinner, and putting away anything that might become a missile. The last time we had a tornado sighting, our power was out. Our DD, who lives a few miles away, called us to say they still had power and could see/hear the weather guy telling them the tornado was sighted going right up the main blvd of our subdivision. Very spooky! Then it was over....and we had to have a new roof.
Dang weather radio we have goes off if we just get a thunder storm. It's annoying most of the time. I see Mister is setting it as I write! Hope all stay safe!

The warnings are gone...for now, anyway. They said a couple of 18-wheelers were turned over on the highway down south (IH-35?). I wonder...if you're driving on the highway and you hear about tornados heading in that direction, shouldn't you exit the highway and seek shelter somewhere? I was just imagining what an 18-wheeler could do to a car when it turns over like that!

It's still coming toward us, but we may have dodged a bullet. Looks like it is going more north east. Hope it keeps on it's present path.

18 wheelers are one of my fears , especially passing and on curves...nevermind a tornado. Hope everyone stays safe. Atleast here it is a glorious soaking rain.

We finally did get the thunderstorms during the night...the creek is flowing again! Hurray! My sister called last night because they'd heard about tornados in my county.

The wind is picking up here and rains should start any minute. We are under tornado watch until 5 pm.

It hit here at 1:30. Lots of lightning with the rain. We measured a little over 3" in our gauge. At the lake, it was 4 1/2". they had to open gates at the dams along the lakes. There's still flooding in outer Austin area, some wind damage, but no lightning strikes (my worry).
The sun is out and it's cool. All's right with the world.
