I'm curious to know what your dozen would be, Andrea. And feel free to repeat me or anyone elses favorites in this thread. Arturo can gain a sense of consensus from repetitions, after all.

OK. First of all, I heartily agree with Daisy that Absolute Treasure, Queen's Circle, Celebration Song, Golden Panther, and Pacific Fire are gorgeous irises. I grow them in California, a very different environment from Daisy in Maryland, and they grow vigorously and perform beautifully here as well.

I want to point out twelve more fantastic varieties. These are varieties I would take with me if I had to move.

First, two top performing irises that fill me with joy every year:

Tend My Heart (Blyth 2016)

Thumb of 2021-06-06/AndreaD/5e9a71

This iris is one of the first to bloom for me and blooms for a very long time. I just love it.

My Lady's Manor (Remare 2013)

Thumb of 2021-06-06/AndreaD/1af4e7

Maybe similar to Tend My Heart, but blooms much later in the season. Also blooms for a long time.

Fluent Mandarin (Blyth 2007)

Thumb of 2021-06-06/AndreaD/9f258c

This photo doesn't show the veining in the standards, which is beautiful, but the color of the falls is accurate.
This is another early blooming iris, very vigorous and floriferous.

Global Crossing (Van Liere 2011)

Thumb of 2021-06-06/AndreaD/a09499

I am very partial to neglectas and this is the best I have found so far.

Merchant Marine (Keppel 2007)

I'm adding them to my list for this fall's plant purchases.

OK, those are the first five.

Next are three prize winners that totally deserve their acclaim and I would not do without.

Daughter of Stars (Spoon 2001)

Thumb of 2021-06-06/AndreaD/9139bd

I cannot praise this iris highly enough. It started blooming last November 2020 and didn't stop for months.

Beauty Becomes Her (Black 2010)

Thumb of 2021-06-06/AndreaD/33a271

A ferocious grower. I had to divide it after two years.

Paul Black (Johnson 2002)

Thumb of 2021-06-06/AndreaD/cd2755

Daring Deception

Thumb of 2021-06-06/AndreaD/4b5228

Here's one that is not a big-time prize winner, but that I really like and has performed really well for years.

Stop the Traffic (Blyth 2007)

Thumb of 2021-06-06/AndreaD/adbf0e

And you've got to have a purple iris, right? I have a hard time choosing between these two siblings:

Royalty Remembered (Keppel 2017)

Thumb of 2021-06-06/AndreaD/db5424

Adriatic Noble (Keppel 2017)

Thumb of 2021-06-06/AndreaD/df4c7a

Both are early bloomers, have heavy substance, and bloom for a long time. Royalty Remembered doesn't sprawl as much as Adriatic Noble does and is theoretically a rebloomer. I kind of like that Royalty Remembered grows in a neater clump, but they are both fantastic.

Here's my favorite iris of 2021:

Fashion Diva (Johnson 2009)

Thanks! Leaf spot is a function of rainfall and we've hardly gotten any rain this winter and spring. In rainy years my foliage doesn't look so good.

I just found this. First I want to say bulb catalogs rarely send what they advertise especially Brecks. I lost a garden of thousands to a divorce for 6 years she tried to kill them poison and weeds chest high. My granddaughter fell in love with the pretty Flowers so in order to get rid of them I was invited to take them. 273 I got back. This list is hard to kill. Sorry no order to it. I'm also tech challenged with little desire to aquire the skills so no photos
