I loved growing Las Pilitas, even if it was late flowering for me. I grew it in a container. Gorgeous flowers.

The Spathaceas do indeed look so gorgeous and I was sorely tempted to order one until I saw that they were late flowering. We had a warm fall this past one but usually not like that. I enjoy foliage too but like to get at least some bloom time. @Marilyn how long did yours bloom?

The first photo I took was when it first bloomed, 9/3/13. I did take pics on 9/5 and 9/6 but I don't remember it blooming a long time for me. I just checked my plant file photos and I don't have any after 9/6. I'm not going to grow salvia spathacea again. I'm too cold for it to enjoy its flowering, since it is too short of a time for me.

The database states it is hardy to zone 8a. The flowering time is.....

Spring
Late spring or early summer
Summer
Late summer or early fall

If I were growing it in zone 8a, I would've gotten more bloom time and the following years too.
