No naked gardening for me. I'd have to buy insect repellant by the gallon.

The hummingbird feeder had an oriole on it this morning, but no hummers yet.

Probably not the best idea for anyone participating in "Naked Gardening Day" to prune their roses, either!

It occurs to me that I should explain that I would need gallons of insect repellant not because I have a huge body - I don't - but because there are a lot of biting flies in my garden. So if you are imagining me as Jabba the Hut, please stop.

Although I did get "buzzed" by the first mosquito of the season, I sure had a lot of bugs in my hair today! I think they're the "lake flies" that we have at this time every year, apparently something that hatches out of Lake Michigan; Their big swarms actually look like clouds of smoke as you drive down the highway (I think the heat off the highway attracts them?) -- but "smoke" is likely not a good thing to joke about with my Canadian friends right now

Saw some "Cowslips" (Marsh Marigolds) blooming in a ditch today... maybe spring really will get here one of these days?

I had my Plant Sale today - in combination with an Artworks Sale. It was cold, it was rainy and it was windy. Fortunately, we have a double length carport that I was able to set everything up under. I sold mostly plants which I expected. I did quite good actually selling over 2/3rds of my plants. I had 170 plants and have had a few messages from some local gardeners who were unable to come out today for whatever reason and asking what's left. A local group through Facebook is also having a Plant Swap on 4 Jun so I can take leftovers to that.

My Moscow Beauty lilac is blooming!

What?? your lilac is blooming?! How can you be that far ahead of me? No fair, I protest, waaaaaaaa !!!!

I did notice that the jewelweed has sprouted -- I need to get out there and dig up a couple of clumps to try to grow in my shade garden, apparently it isn't very happy to be transplanted once it gets larger.

Lilacs have been blooming for a while here.

Yesterday I saw that my little redbud tree (planted a couple of years ago) is going to have some flowers on it for the first time

We went plant shopping yesterday, I think I went a bit overboard, filled the bed of the truck, but at my age, and now with a heart condition I may as well spend and enjoy while I can.
