I have had this in my garden for 30 years and was calling it acidanthera. Now I see I should be calling it gladiolus murielae but after looking at the photos and creamy colouring, I'm wondering if it is actually gladiolus Lucky Star. I am in Australia so it is flowering now and has a lovely perfume particularly in the evening. Does anyone recognise it?

You're right on track; I think it got an official new name not long ago. It's still referred to as an Abyssinian Glad a/o Acidanthera. Gladiolus callianthus 'Murieae' is now used.
I don't think its Lucky Star (but then again, I don't even know what Lucky Star looks like without referring it)...no pics of Lucky Star in the db here.

From that, it appears a cross had been made with Gladiolus murielae and (Grootbloemige hybrid x Gladiolus murielae).

Grootbloemige doesn't translate, but it sounds like a great (large) blooming (flowering) hybrid.

@bonitin might be able to verify this.

"Grootbloemige" is literally translated: "Large flowered" You have translated it perfectly Janet!
