I thought I could add some poetry

Here's one I made

How

Autism

As I walk to metro I feel it's weight all around upon my inner self I utter not a sound Do I curse to the heavens for this my test called life Do I will away those whom dear I hold. rembering in wisdom all that glitters isn't gold. How can i\we errace the stigma mortals have eyes on

Do I say honestly I couldn't help being born this way

The answer comes to me softly like the cooing of a dove it is a thing we all process

It is a thing called love

Thank you
Insight is 9 out of 10 on the way to understanding
You have given that and in so few words!
Don't squat with yer spurs on!

People try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved

Here's another

Insight

Smart intellectual wise strong and proud are the things we think aloud

But when we are tested by insight sometimes we loose wrong from right

How can we keep our knowallage gained without loosing who we are or seeing what we've become afar

Do we chance or leave to fate what learning is do not wait or do we admit our own flaws to conform to our modern laws
To do this we must understand the human mind which is not always kind

I can see poetry is a wonderful means of expression for you.
I am a Haiku girl myself ( not very good either )

When my brother recently passed, I wrote this for him. He always told me to do more than Haiku and so I did!

This was after several months of painful grieving -- I was feeling somewhat eased

Grief has loosened its grip
It no longer swamps

It no longer chokes

It no longer carves salt channels into my face

Instead it creeps and holds me fast -- but gently
under the waves
It allows me to breathe through a narrow crevice

It gently sands and refines its path downward ....

Is this progress?

This of course is not mine..but it provided motivation..

make a map of sorrow.
Sorrow, however, turns out to be not a state but a process. – C.S. Lewis"

It may make more sense showing you where I came FROM..

Grief
Come on out into the open

let me get a good look at you

Demon hiding in the shadows

or friend and faithful companion?

I sometimes forget you are there

And, just when I get comfortable,

out you jump

just to remind me who is boss
You've a hold on me just as surely as if your fingers were locked 'round my ankle

Why so vigilant?

I am not going anywhere
I've gotten used to you

And, I expect you will be around for all of my days

You are newly born..
Are you a child?

Are you as frightened of me as I am at times of you?

So come on out...

don't be bashful...

pull up a chair...

take a seat...

I don't bite

I know you do...

Come on...
let's be friends
--

And the inspiration for that was a great poet...
"Give sorrow words; the grief that does not speak knits up the o'er-wrought heart and bids it break."-- w shakesphere

Most wonderful and touching poetry; words can often bring us to our knees in sorrow, in disappointment, in grief just as they can make us laugh right out loud. You've turned painful and unlovely words into something of beauty, both of you. Be content, if not happy, with that. Most haven't been given the ability to use words in the ways that you both do. Be happy about that, too, Alex and Dot.

Your words bring emotions to me too. I was never familiar with autism until it found its way into the classroom where I taught, by way of a wonderful young man. That was years ago and though today he and I have an ongoing friendship, when I see him he still doesn't let me see his eyes. I have no way of knowing his eye color but I can describe this good friend of mine very well. It doesn't matter, the eye color, he is still my friend.

And Rosie/Dot. I am all too familiar with grief. Time combined with your words are great healers.

Keep writing. It helps you and it for sure helps me to learn; every day I learn more and more. Thank you for letting me glimpse into your worlds.

A form of Japanese poetry. A haiku expresses a single feeling or impression and contains three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, respectively.

However there are different forms

Here is one I wrote after watching Rosalie ( our hound ) one snowy winter day in absolute joyful abandon ...snuffling here and there in the garden until she found her sweet spot

I did not observe the 5 7 5 form

wind blows frigid
trees bend and crack
warmth and comfort envelop me
--a bed of berries!
