My favourite is OLD TANGIERS. It glows well.

So glad you are becoming a daylilyholic. some of my favorites that won't break the bank are:

Electric Marmalade Magic - much more orange and intensely colored than this but the form is right

Midnight Magic - deep velvety black red of heavy substance

Spacecoast Tiny Perfection - small but perfectly formed every time

W
Persian Market - an oldie but magical blend of hot pinks, corals and oranges

Condilla - an oldie but stunning gold color can be seen for miles, often a hose in hose type of double

Wild Horses - a dramatic eyed daylily, tall, kind of unusual form - in-between regular and spider forms

Palace Garden Beauty - lovely lavender with darker, bluer eye and edge

Age of Opulence - came out of the shipping box with a scape ready to go, soft ruffles

Francis of Assisi - really bright saturated magenta red trimmed delicately in white

I love Neon Flamingo, Too Cute! and Articulate Matrix, ones I don't have. I have Lillian's Alabama Sunrise, Primal Scream, and Lillian's Vapor Trail but are new to my garden. The ones I listed in my last comment were all daylilies that I have had for years and love them.

In 2004, I saw an article in my weekly paper that showed a field of daylilies on the other side of my county....and they weren't just yellow and orange! I can still recall that wonderful feeling of when I first saw that field of colorful daylilies myself! I have many favorites, but here are a few.

My Heart Belongs To Daddy - My Daddy passed away in 1997 and this always reminds me of him.
Thumb of 2016-05-23/Cynthia59P/57d6ff

Westbourne Oranges for Christmas - My Mama always talked about getting a bag of oranges under her Christmas tree. I'm sure that growing up in the Depression era in Kentucky, fresh fruit wasn't that plentiful. She remembered it fondly and that tradition continued throughout my childhood.....and even now.

Chicken on the Run - I just love that title, as well as the color of this daylily. It also reminds me of my grandmother who raised chickens....and dressed them. :0 I'm not talking about those concrete geese you put clothes on either. Nuff said!

Electric Mist - These colors almost seem like they are hooked up to an electric box. Growing up on a farm, you had to watch out for the electric fences. I got too close to one on a damp day, and these bright colors remind me of that shocking event.

Forever Redeemed - Thanks to the blood of Jesus, I am Forever Redeemed!

White Eyes Pink Dragon - This beauty was a gift from Lisa T. of Ohio back in 2009. It had only be registered in 2006 and it was beyond my daylily funds. I had made a comment to Lisa about WEPD and she graciously sent me some of hers. Lisa's generosity continues to prove that daylily people are some of the nicest people.

All very pretty, Cynthia. Who was the seller that your spoke of in KY? My sister had My Heart Belongs to Daddy. I never got a piece of it before her house was sold. It was dormant in March.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Here is a shot of my garden buddies. Salem and Cordale. They scare the heck out me sometimes when they hide in the daylilies and then dart out!

I'm going to post a favorite. It has been very hearty, reproducing well, and very rust resistant. The foliage is very healthy and it has been such a beautiful plant.

Welcome! Johnny, I hope you know what you are getting into----this is the biggest group of enablers you will find. nodding nodding nodding Since you live in Paducah, check out Bluegrass Gardens Farm and Nursery in Murray, KY. You should be close enough, you might even want to make a visit. Look them up but be sure to use the full name, there is another Bluegrass Daylily Gardens and it is not the same. However, it is in Shelbyville, KY, so you might be interested. I have never personally bought daylilies from either of these sellers so I can't do any recommendations. If possible, since you are just starting out with daylilies, go slow, if you can. It's easy to get caught up in beautiful pictures, but research the ones you think you just can't live without and make an informed decision as to whether the daylily would do well for you. Check out heights, bud counts, bloom time, and other factors, such as rust resistance. From personal experience, I can tell you I did none of these things when I got the daylily bug and I'm sorry I didn't know what I was buying, only looked at pictures. Most of what I have is good, but there are some that were a waste of money and the time invested to try to get them to grow. Once again, welcome to the daylily world--remember this can be just as addicting as a drug. After all, look at all of us here on the Daylily Forum.

Today, I added an oldie that I saw two years ago at Trenton Daylilies. It is Smuggler's Gold. She had a entire row of it. It was taller and a eye catcher from the road. It is now in my garden. I also added a nice red seedling of hers with a green throat and a wire edge. She is supplying bus plants for the Nationals. I saw it too Hurray! I asked about buying it but she said she need close to 200 fans.

Smuggler's Gold

The picture doesn't do it justice.
