Interesting, last year my Bottle Rocket bloomed down in the fans. It was the first year bloom. Yesterday when I looked there was a bloom stock at normal height. As many of you know we have been in a drought and last year we had a pretty warm winter.

Just for general information, and not to be the least bit critical at all -- Irises have bloom *stalks*. Stockbrokers have stocks. Green Grin!

I guess with the rot in Iris stalks, and the rotten stock market they have something in common. Both of them Thumbs down

Mika - Cheesehead is a nickname for people who are from Wisconsin. Wisconsin is known for it's dairy products, and in particular for it's cheeses. Cheeseheads is also what fans of the Green Bay Packers football team are called. Some of the fans wear hats that are shaped like a big wedge of cheese.

& those are expensive hats. People keep asking if I have one. I make do with a baseball cap with 'Packers' on it. I have a cap with an embroidered iris for conventions. I have 3 caps with my grandchildren's college on them. When last looked, I only have one head.

At this point, John is checking to see it any stalks are coming up, & our Cornelian cherry tree (relative of the dogwoods) has very small flowers this spring. The alternating warm & cold temperature is not good for it.

Good thing you only have one head, Lucy....imagine what a 'perm" would cost if you had three Sticking tongue out

I have more caps than you could count, they are laying all over the place. I take them off, and forget to put them back on, then just get another out of my "junk closet"! I lose a lot of them to the wind, also.....I'm bald and there just isn't anything for the caps to get a grip on, I guess!

Omigosh -- I didn't even think of that. When I read posts here, I just *assume* that people are on computers.

I have trouble with reticulate---see it changes a to an e. I type down hard on the a & it tells me it is misspelled.

Add it to the dictionary, Lucy, and it will quit telling you it is misspelled..... or just ignore it because we know what you mean.

I wonder how to do that on a Mac.. A lot of botanical terminology comes out wrong.. Mine also does "we're" when I type "were".. Most of the times I go back and read what I've written and correct the computer's mistakes.

Back to the moss... My soil leans slightly towards Alkaline. I get moss mostly in the shade, but also in the winter on my DG paths... I just lightly hula hoe it up before it gets too thick. If it were getting in between Iris here, I would think that there wasn't enough light. We stay pretty dry through the summer.

Another way to get the moss is by acidifying the soil via the compost used. I use a lot of citrus and fruit leftovers so lime should be added when it is added to the garden.

I got a scuffle hoe from AM Leonard during a sale of free shipping. Took over a week to get here but handy little device for going between the rows and removing weeds without disturbing the soil much. Not sure if the hula turned into a scuffle though.

How to add to dictionary? I am not very computer literate.
