Thanks, Bonnie. I've already ordered Batik. I didn't want to miss out.

Stepping Out doesn't seem to like Little Rock very much. I don't know anyone who has had much success with it. My garden is too small to waste on a plant that won't bloom.

I like BB's and IB's. They don't fall over as easily in Arkansas's spring storms. I also like eye catching color patterns. Mine is an urban garden, just on the front lawn. It is visible from the street as neighbors walk by. I like it to make a good impression. Over the years it has encouraged others to become gardeners.

First, our dishwasher went out. Then the washing machine, then the hot water heater. We have a new dishwasher but are still washing by hand, as we haven't got a hot water heater yet. The washer-dryer unit is due to arrive on Wednesday.

Fortunately we have an on-demand hot water heater in the guest apartment over the garage, so we can take showers. The hot water heater has a "lifetime" guarantee. It is a Kenmore. They don't have lifetime warranties any more, so we are waiting for the Sears manager to call us back on that. We wanted a "hybrid" so that it would use less power, but not sure what our compensation will be. Of course, all the hybrid models are unavailable right now.

Hmmm.... Shrug!

If you replace your anode rod (also known as the sacrificial rod) in your water heat, you can extend its lifespan. Instead of me trying to explain it, here's some helpful info on it.

No, it wont fix an already corroded water heater. It was meant as a helpful tip for everyone on here to extend the life of their water heater. If it's already leaking, then it's too little, too late.

It was a Kenmore Survivor and they finally honored the warranty with a top-of-the-line replacement. They don't make any with lifetime warranties anymore.

Oh! I think we do, just not like new though...or like when we were 20 years old.

I thought I could work as hard as I did yesterday, and it didn't happen. Whistling

I bought a single iris this year, the Siberian 'Steve Varner', which I got from a nearby nursery.

http://wiki.irises.org/Sib/Sib...

A friend of mine and I went to see the Siberians blooming in the mid-season and this one was just so beautiful. Turns out the same iris is on the cover of my favorite iris book, The Gardener's Iris Book by William Shear. That's a great bonus! I can't wait for it to bloom next year...

I applaud your restraint. Just one. But it is a beautiful one for sure!

My restraint this year isn't really by choice! Being new to this house, I've simply run out of room, and justification for getting more irises. Next year though, I have a feeling that it's going to be very different! Nevertheless, I don't think I'll ever order half as many irises as folks seem to. I can only imagine the show they put on and am pretty jealous!

Steve Varner really is a beautiful iris. But I had no idea, looking at its picture in the catalog. I've learned that pictures are poor representations of the flowers and plants. If only there was a way to see every iris blooming in person!

We cannot help you with the former, but I am sure we can come up with plenty of 'justification' if you need help? Big Grin Whistling
