Alrighty -- here we go. Green Grin!

First up -- my un-named Ancient One. It's always the first to bloom, and it always sneaks up on me!!
Thumb of 2016-03-31/Muddymitts/06919b The bloom is very, very small this year. The clump badly needs thinning.

Next is Ruby Tuesday -- still unfurling. A gift from Tom in 2014, this is the first time blooming for me!! Hurray!
Thumb of 2016-03-31/Muddymitts/56ace6

Ditto for Casper's Shadow:
Thumb of 2016-03-31/Muddymitts/39ac59

Two Thumbs Up -- a little further along:
Thumb of 2016-03-31/Muddymitts/6198a7

Little Sighs -- also a gift from Wisconsin in 2014. Tom decided that year that I was SDB-deprived, and took it upon himself to fix that! Green Grin!
Thumb of 2016-03-31/Muddymitts/667147

And finally -- a fully open one -- Vixen Elf. Purchased last year from Dee in her closing business sale.
Thumb of 2016-03-31/Muddymitts/8a6f64 It's pink!!!! Hurray!

I am loving these little guys. I did not know they were blooming -- can't see them from the house, and found them by accident. Smiling

And Lucy -- I know that you're sitting there, looking at these and smiling a smug little grin -- thinking "I told ya so............!!" Big Grin

A second little clump of Two Thumbs Up:
Thumb of 2016-03-31/Muddymitts/f95f2e

And Deb -- remember a couple of days ago I posted that Kilarney Green had ten or eleven increases? I took another look at her yesterday and counted at least SIX bloom stalks forming!!!!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Mary Ann, your unnamed Ancient One looks much like Iris Germanica; if a little yellow in throat I'd say it is. One of the most common oldey noids. So maybe it has a name after all.

Mary Ann, wonderful blooms! Have you had blooms this early before? I guess if you haven't had little fellows for very long that may be tough to answer. Sure seems KY is having an early start to the season though Hurray!

Neal - I think everyone is running ahead of schedule. My first bloom was 13 days earlier than last year.

My same Ancient One NOID just bloomed this morning. I have always thought it is Iris Germanica. I was thinking mine was on the smallish side too. Have about 10-12 more buds of it ready to pop out in different places.

Just looked up records. Last year our spring bloom season here in Southern California started in March. This year it started in February -- with daylilies and a couple of SDBs. Looks like a bumper crop here this year. Stalks and buds are all over the place now. We got above average rain, thanks to El Nino. Was very dry last year.

Yes, Iris Germanica is a tall IB or short TB size. Mine was 67cm stem, 50cm leaf, blossom not the smallest but not large.

Thanks Shannon. I agree about Two Thumbs Up!!

Thank you Neal -- and no, I have never had blooms this early. This is March -- the earliest I have ever had blooms was in April. And I'm pretty sure that it is usually the last half of April. The one thing I have never kept track of is the bloom dates............... Shrug! But I think that Leslie is right -- that everyone is running early this year. I've heard comments about that on other lists/threads. I love it -- but I'm just a little worried about late freezes. And I've heard rumblings about that possibility. Crying

Hurray! Mary Ann! Now while you are all busy watching the little guys, the big ones will sneak up on you and before you know it they will be sending out their new buds. The little ones are the openers for the show soon to come. Smiling

And Bonnie -- you're always a little bit ahead of me. So I probably won't have stalks on the TB's for another two weeks or so. That is -- unless I step on 'em!!! Grumbling

Mary Ann - we have the chance of frost next Tuesday night into Wednesday. I am guessing it will be a better chance for you since you are slightly north of here. I was not happy to hear of more frost. Angry

I can always count on at least one good frost in the first two weeks of April. I never plant my tender annuals until tax day or after.
