Melanie, you write so well, why not submit an article for the Perspectives section, giving all the down sides of moving MOSI? Lots of people probably don't know what will be lost if they move to the smaller downtown location. It's one way to try to sway public opinion.

Also suggest to your boss to post something about the butterfly exhibit being lost if the move is made? It's always better to be pro-active even if nothing comes of it. At least you know you did all you could about the situation.

Meantime, I've got to get up there and see the place in case they do move!

Since I don't have any new pictures to show, thought I would show this caterpillar of the Eight Spotted Forester eating muscadine grape leaves. Smiling

The green lily seems to be drawing a lot of pollinators. I love the white moth (there's another bug below it but you have to squint to see it). And the black beetles look like they're having a convention!

That is a pretty flower. Smiling Oh and cute moths on the first picture, I think they are both moths. The second picture looks like those flower eating beetles?

Something has moved into the Fragrant Cudweed (or Pearly Everlasting). I don't have photos of the actual caterpillar because I didn't want to do a home invasion...but thinking it's either an American Lady or Painted Lady or possibly a Buckeye.
Your thoughts, Melanie?

Home invasion? Rolling on the floor laughing Yeah, it's a either a Painted Lady or American Lady. I haven't seen any this year and I'm so bummed. I like to think of their nests as little presents waiting for me to open them and get my caterpillar gift inside. Rolling on the floor laughing Even if you unsilk it, you can usually stick it back together pretty well, and the caterpillar will do the rest.

Well, I've got American Lady cats right now on Sweet Everlasting plants! At least, I assume they're American Lady...no other butterfly cats ever use those plants. The Painted Lady cats, if I get any, use the Texas Thistle.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

Some Monarch cats on April Fools day, this was actually later than we normally see them. Gone now, and new milkweed growing back for next crew.
