I'm waiting for the sun to come up before going out to check on my heuffelii.
Can't wait to see them all after being gone for two weeks. Hurray!

Not completely, but it's close.

I, too, had to train myself to use gloves and am still not fond of bulky ones - unless I'm doing a LOT of shoveling or raking. But, lightly powdered latex or nitrile make weeding much less of a chore; particularly when working in gravel and stone. Garden often enough with your hands in the dirt and you'll develop skin cracks and splits that take a painfully long time to heal. I hate 'em and feel that the tradeoff of learning to use gloves is well worth it.

I buy from Galeton.com and they offer a variety of latex and nitrile gloves. Great prices on other sorts of gloves and safety equipment, too.

Thank you Kate. I bookmarked the site.
I had to do a google search to get to the site, as just typing in the address didn't work. Here is a link in case any of you want to check it out. http://www.galeton.com/SiteMap...

Kate which of the nitrile gloves do you find to work the best (ml thickness)?

Heuffelii 'Minutum' seems to be handling our mixed up PNW weather. Ground frozen for over a week, after rain and milder weather. Now it's warmed up again and has rained, ground thawed.
This photo was taken today.

I like the 4 or 5.5's but the lightly powdered are also nice. I buy un-powdered and keep a shaker of baby powder with the gloves. They can be hard to put fresh ones on in hot weather without powder.

For our readers, 'Minutum' was once (and may still be) considered the smallest of the heuffelii.

Twit, I'll have to measure it once it becomes mature.

Here is another photo from today. This is a new heuffelii for me this year.

'Pattens' is also another small one. I have Pattens but not Minutum, so cannot compare. I seem to be drawn to the smaller members of these families, probably since I've run out of space for the collection. Smiling

I had bought Kapo in 2009, I think. Couldn't think of the name in the previous post. Healthy but not reproducing last year if I remember correctly
