I think about 7 spiders are happily living here right now. As far as I can tell, they are the green and white or yellow variegated types. I hope eventually to get some of every type of spider available.

Hirt's Gardens (online) advertises 2 new spider plants. I believe one is called "Ocean" and the other one, advertised as a Hawaiian, is much different than the EA baskets of Hawaiian spiders seen in stores. It has a deep, wide yellow stripe down the center. Both are beautiful!

As you all know, I've been inviting companies (especially smaller ones) to participate in our reviews. Thanks to Susan above, I thought we all might want to become familiar with Hirt's, so I contacted Matt.

I explained what we were doing, and that his company had been mentioned favorably on this thread. He only had one question for me, which was asking about the unpleasantness of our our fight last year. Double unfortunately, he had his facts exactly backwards. Thumbs down Of course, the details of the resolution must remain private, but I did point out the obvious facts of the retraction by the other party and the more obvious fact of us here and growing strong (kinda hard to misinterpret that, huh??).

His response was:

[sic]
no thanks
i am not interested.

So, that's that. FYI

I have acquired 5 small baby curlies. Not sure what variety they are I will get a few pictures of them later. They were unpacking some large hanging baskets and these were broken pieces that were laying on the floor being swept up for the trash.

Unfortunately I hung my bright leaved curly spider plant in the window where it gets direct late afternoon, early evening sun.
It looked great for a while...today I really looked at it, sadly it has lost its colour.
The leaves are pale, pale green, is looking decidedly weak and not very curly..... I had been watering and feeding it. I found out today by accident, that it was sitting in the wrong place.
I have moved it......Will it ever retrieve that bright green colour, look healthy and glad to be alive?????
Your knowledge and thoughts will be appreciated.
Many thanks.
Veronica Jones.

If it's sun-bleached, I think it will recover just fine. Does the basket have drainage holes? Sometimes leaves can yellow from too much water if roots are always wet, although spider plants are pretty forgiving. As insurance, you could remove a couple of the largest spiders to start a new pot... I like putting 3 into a small hanging basket for almost-instant fullness.

For me, the young spiders are usually curlier than the mother plant.

Good luck!
