I have no idea what it could be. For a moment I thought a Microgramma sp (fern family), but these do not cling their leaves against a tree trunk like this one..Unfortunately, no flowers..

Several genera include vines that shingle on a tree like that, Monstera, Piper, Rhaphidophora, but I couldn't find a match. I didn't even try to look at Philodendrons.

I knew it would be a tough one, more so because we have no flowers that could give us a better clue, I cannot count the hours, weeks even months I have spend trying to identify many of the Brazilians, but i always think one day I might stumble upon one as the info on plants species of the Atlantic Forest on the web is growing with time..

By the way, the genus Rhaphidophora does not occur in brazil..

This one could be in the same family as your other vine Myriam, it looks similar to Marcgravia rectiflora but that isn't listed. Could it be an escapee?

http://floraelverde.catec.upr.edu/especie_info.php?id=318

The leaf shape is a little different, I haven't yet checked all the Marcgravia species.

yes, I was thinking too it must be related to the other one I've posted after I've seen the photos of a Marcgravia on the Flickr link you gave in that thread..
There are only supposed to be two Marcgravia sps in the Rio state
http://floradobrasil.jbrj.gov.br/reflora/listaBrasil/Consult...
But it could be an escapee like you say..
There are 19 species in the whole of Brasil:

I noticed the link doesn't work, but Marcgravia rectiflora is not in the list for the entire Brazil.
I think we won't get any further with this one for now, I have also checked with the other 3 genus (Marcgraviastrum, Schwartzia and Souroubea) in the family but got nothing out of.
It will have to stay in my NOID folder for now..
Thank You! Janet!

It might have come from a garden, or the Botanical Gardens.

It's interesting that this looks much like Marcgravia rectiflora which on your other Macragravia you found that Marcgravia umbellata is now synonym for Marcgravia rectiflora on the Catalogue of Life.

http://garden.org/thread/view_post/1118673/

The IPNI links for both on the Plant List doesn't mention a change in name, and Marcgravia rectiflora was updated in 2016 but by a different person than on the Catalogue of Life. Marcgravia umbellata wasn't updated since 2008, if the name had changed you would have thought a note would have been put on that entry and the Plant List entry altered to being a synonym. Both have different orgin dates with Marcgravia umbellata being the earlier of the two.

http://garden.org/thread/view_post/1118694/

I found on the Catalogue of Life that Marcgravia umbellata is also accepted, the fact that it has been given as synonym for another species doesn't mean it hasn't species status in it's own right. It often means that one species has, at some time in history, been mistaken for another species and found at a later date to be a different species, so the name is given as a synonym only to reflect that it had been confused with another species at some time in history.
