does anyone have a picture of what part of the buld should be planted? I know kind of dumb question but I dont have a green thumb and just starting to learn on planting and i bought some of these and planted them 2 weeks ago but not seeing any results and wondering if i planted them wrong

I was told, and have followed the rule of the crown (were plant and roots meet) being 1/2 to 1 inch deep. This has worked well for me. Hope this helps, and welcome to ATP.

What are you meaning by "buld"? If that is supposed to be bud, you do not plant the buds. I am assuming that is what you meant, because you followed it up with I planted it two weeks ago and am not seeing any results".
So if you did actually plant the buds, you will see no results. Daylilies can be grown from mature seed, or from divisions of plants, but not from buds.

Oh, OK. Did you buy some of those dried packaged daylilies like they sell at Wal-Mart, Lowe's etc. ? If so then you have a daylily crown with some roots.

I bought some of those also when I first started with daylilies, they did grow.Two years ago I actually bought a bag of mixed varieties called "Once in A Lifetime Mix" I think they all grew.
Here is a photo I just took today, of one of those plants. It was actually much prettier in real life than in this photo.

bulb and are you sure you bought daylilies? were they thick looking roots or were they round looking 'balls'? You may have purchased asiatics or oriental lilies. They are not the same. They grow on a tall thick stalk and will take 'forever' to sprout to where you can see them. The daylilies should have had a 'crown' or top to it, where you plant the soil up to that, and even though bagged, would probably have at least some little sprouting already going on.

I don't think we know where Shannon is, even roughly? Rust may not be an issue if she's not in the "south", which might be the case in an area that is still selling daylilies in bags.

They will still be selling daylilies in the bags till they run out, that might be as late as summer, but they will get marked down. That is here in zone 8b.

You can still buy bagged daylilies here too. I am in zone 5a. Wal-mart has them. Sometimes you think you are getting a named daylily and it turns out to be different.

Many times it will turn out to be different. Sort of like ordering from Gilbert Wild.
