If you guys want to see my picture, you have to work for it!
DND, that's a cool feeder! Lots of room for hummingbirds to eat. I'll try to send them your way!
Charlotte, you have bird envy!? Look at the cool birds you just posted!
Well, I woke up this afternoon and the first bird I saw was the Red-Shouldered Hawk. I was inside and took this through the sliding glass door and patio screen. I went outside and saw the Hawk, but it flew away. I guess it figured I already got my picture.
Now, I've seen a bird a few times hanging out with the Tufted Titmice, but I knew this bird was different. I thought I knew what it was, but I didn't want to say until I had a picture. I think I've got Carolina Chickadees! FYI, most of my pictures are with its head down. I think it may have been eating a seed.
I think I might be attracting new kinds of birds. I heard so many different calls today. One sounded like something you'd hear on one of those "Sounds of the Rainforest" CDs. Almost sounded like a monkey. I never did see what was making the noise, but I'll keep my eyes open.
I saw my Great Crested Flycatcher friend today. It was leaning down real low, fitting itself against the branch.
The male Cardinal was on the fence until it decided to check out Dad's woodpile. Well, one of his woodpiles. He's a woodturner and we have multiple woodpiles. But they are good for wildlife.
I think this Blue Jay was angry because it flew into my oak and then started squawking something fierce. I could see a much smaller bird up in the oak hopping around like it was agitated. But I couldn't see what that bird was.
I had been a little worried that I hadn't seen the hummingbirds in the last couple of days. Granted, I hadn't been outside much, either. I could hear them chattering in the trees, today. I saw the male a couple of times, but didn't get his picture until I was watering the plants this evening. I think I must be "safe" when I'm watering. FYI, he's hovering to the left of the feeder.
And since I'm always talking about my oak trees, and since people often have the wrong idea of what Florida looks like, I thought I'd take a picture of the grand oak on the corner. With all the Spanish Moss. I have to spot birds in that! The tree on the right is in the middle of the yard. It wasn't as full as the others so I'm growing Duranta up it. The butterflies and the hummingbird really like it.
