I had to add Carmella as an also-sold-as name to our Caramella entry because some nurseries list it that way.

Rose (Rosa 'Caramella')

Chamblee's is one of them:

Maybe Chamblee's made the same mistake as you Neal.
Now if they carry on leaving out letter's we could land up with Moore's mini 'Carmela' Whistling

Or maybe they're just as annoyed as the rest of us at Kordes' habit of using the same names over and over. Hilarious!

Kordes already had a perfectly nice hybrid tea named Caramella and should have come up with a new name for the Fairytale rose.

You might be right Zuzu - it is rather annoying and as you mention, not an isolated case. Many of the growers do it with trade marked names.

Good grief! Kordes are really bad for that! The rose world can be daunting as it is without that confusion tossed in.

The fairy tale series have performed so amazingly well for me! It's somewhat unusual to see big rose plants around here; lots of roses grown, but a 5' tall Knockout is about as big as I see nearby. Just a year after planting, I've got 6 of the series 4-7' tall and equally wide covered with buds! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! Such big, fat buds and the green calyxes are just peeling back- photos soon Big Grin Besides being vigorous varieties, I think Palatine's multiflora root stock boosts the vigor as well.

2 of the 3 roses ordered from RVR have been planted, but only after I made 2 fruitless trips to
Home Depot and CVS, both of whom were listed as carrying Evelyn's VF11. I settled for organic
bone meal and organic rose and flower food, plus some organic composted manure (not Black
Kow, as I couldn't find anyone to help load a bag onto my cart and it's too heavy for me to lift).

Came home, tilled up the spots, put the products in the large holes and planted those babies,
watering well. Today the rains are coming and should be here most of the week. An excellent
start for the roses, the daylily and iris I also planted!

Thanks, Neal. I try to take advantage of forecasted rains, but it doesn't always work
so well. Your LA lilies are coming along nicely. I just can't wait to see them bloom!

The curculios are here ... Glare I stayed out until I was swarmed by mosquitos.

Two days ago it was leaf damage by sawfly due to humid conditions. Today, it was leaf damage by spider mites due to arid conditions. Thursday, it will be humid again. The curculios don't care if it is humid or arid.

Oh well, it's always something .... at least I've got roses Smiling .... until I finish dis-budding ... Rolling my eyes.

You are right, Lyn - it's always something! Right now all I have is aphids and little caterpillars eating my new growth.
Oh, what I would do for a 'perfect rose garden'!

Sharlene ...

Aphids just need a strong spray of water and poof they are gone. If you are worried about tender growth, just put your hand behind the new growth when you spray. When they are washed off of the plant, they don't climb back up.

Generally, the beneficial lady bugs show up soon and the garden will be in balance again and you will have lots of fat lady bugs ... Big Grin

I don't know what the green worms are, so I can't help you there ... Sighing!

Oh that is so pretty, Mark. My Gemini is in a bed with Cherry Parfait, Lovestruck, and Moonstone. They have not bloomed well at all because they've been competing with a horrible 'Twisty Baby' locust tree that took over. We killed the tree and most of its runners last year, so this year I'm feeding the roses and hoping for the best. Their blooms have been so puny I can't tell them apart. Your picture reminds me why I bought that rose. I love the way the colors blend! Lovey dubby

Really is pretty Mark, Cindi, I can imagine that Gemini would look good with the other three - Hope they come around with the feeding.

Lyn, I am familiar with wiping aphids off with my hands - have been doing it for years! And for years, each spring when they're back, I curse. Always have green hands when I come in from the garden - but it works!

Sharlene ...

I haven't had to wipe them off with my hands for years. It's dang sawflies that always get ahead of me ... Glare The good news is that now that I am dis-budding the roses, the roses will be pushing new foliage and buds like mad now that I am stealing all their buds.

They get a day to munch because I have to go over the mountain for a dentist appointment today. Oh, joy.

Cindi ...

Cheri Parfait is the last rose I have to find room for in the garden, then I kind of want to kind say that's it nothing comes into the garden unless something goes out. That way I'll end up with roses that are special to me ... at least that's today's plan ... Smiling

Mark, your Gemini rose is gorgeous, and looks more coral than catalog/website photos, which I like even better! I've often thought I should get that one not only because I like color changing roses, but also because as you can tell by my user name I'm a Gemini Hilarious!

Gemini looks similar to Coretta Scott King in the above photo, do any of you grow both? How would you compare them?
