I knew about the effect of Ethylene gas on fruit, but not on flowers.
You also want to avoid to pollinate your orchid. I tried pollinating on my mothers 6 Phalaenopsis plants just too see what happens. 3 days later the flowers started withering and the plants started to produce seed capsules. Very impressive that fast reaction. As you can imagine my mother was more than happy...
