I know the very thought is heresy to rose lovers. I am not a rose lover. Someone planted roses in a strip of ground that belongs to me (its a long story and who cares?) and I've cut them down as close to the ground as I can, but there's still that bottom part and its in solid clay/concrete soil. I really need to get them out of there, but I'm not physically capable of digging anything which is why I garden in containers only.

I'm really sorry if this thread offends anyone, but I could use any advice I can get about spraying them with something other than Roundup to kill 'em off. TIA

There is an herbicide called Remedy which is specifically intended to kill plants from the base. Drizzle or paint it on the cut stump and your plants will be gone for good.

Table salt and vinegar is what I use to kill my weeds and tree suckers

gallon of white vinegar
1 cup of table salt.
1 tablespoon of liquid dish washing soap.

Thanks, Cinta. I have vinegar on my shopping list as of now.
