Only had this for one year. It grew very fast. They leaves were very big for a salvia. For some reason it didn't survive my winter in Oregon (maybe too wet).

A friend sent me a few seeds and I have a couple of seedlings planted out now. They probably won't get as much shade as they would like and that may kill them once summer heat sets in. From what I understand this is a completely tender plant so not surviving in Oregon seems right unless they have moved Oregon well to the south. In any case this species is new to me. There are several true blue ones with large leaves. I used to grow macrophylla which had large leaves, small blue flowers and loved this eastern hot and humid climate.

I don't believe the temps in Oregon killed it. Oregon is very mild. It was the wetness.

I should have said western Oregon is very mild.

Hello all,
I have just joined after my scratching around the 'net found this group. Happy dance!
I would love to acquire seeds for Salvia vitifolia. If you have a source, please share the info here.

Many thanks and good gardening to you.
