Thank you Smiling

Well.. you know you can't have enough irises.. I'm thinking to add them also on the slope.. the thing is.. i was thinking to plant a japanese maple on that place.. but a sun resistant one because this place is also very sunny.. can any of you give me some suggestions what iris cultivars would look good next to a japanese maple that would be purple/red, like Bloodgood maple?

I have Bloodgood in my white and wine iris bed:

I have more irises and other perennials too, but you get the general idea. Just don't make the mistake I did at first and put a dark iris right in front of your red maple! D'Oh!

Looking good, Robin!! Lovey dubby

I use orange flowers, including irises, with my red/purple smoke tree:

This would work with a red maple too if you like the contrast.

Woow thank you so much for your suggestions Hurray! I will check them out Thumbs up the red/white combo looks very nice, but I love also the idea of Electric Candy Lovey dubby and the orange red combo is also a nice one, unusual idea. Thank you!

Now I have something in return.. new pictures of French Lavender and Clash of Titans. All Ashore was damaged by the rain so I don't have a new picture of it sadly Crying .

Clash of Titans:

This one has quite big flowers that make quite an eyecatcher in my garden. Also, the beards are quite long, big and fussy. It's very pretty, but for now I like both, All Ashore and French Lavender more, especially because Clash of Titans is more or less a solid colored one and I don't like so big beards on my irises.

French Lavender:

Omg, this one is such an eyecatcher! What a beauty! I was worried that it would be less bold than the others, but it has everything. It's not dark, nor very lightly colored, and the blue color on this one is such a pretty perwinkle blue leaning towards lilac. Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

I have a question.. all three cultivars that I had bloomed a day or two and then the petals curled up and the bloom was gone. I was pretty shure the reason behind that was the bad wheather - rain.. but one cultivar's bloom opened after the rain and this one also lasted just a few days?? Google says the blooms normally last two/three weeks.. what's the reason for the short blooming time? Arey cultivars not enough grown up or is there another reason?

The individual flowers only last a few days, but a stalk typically has several blooms and the time between the first and last bloom varies greatly between cultivars from about a week to 6 weeks or more. The information you googled was probably referring the length of time a rhizome is flowering.

I agree with Robin.

And yes, the weather can make a bloom dry up, wash out or tear it to shreds thus shortening the time it blooms.
