Hi Jasmin,
I have one pink NOID that came with a house, but mine turned into something different later - I would say it is double and I do not particularly enjoy the fragrance. It is darker than on pictures.

Mine is clearly not double. The plant is probably very old. At least 15 years, if not much older. It was in an abandoned garden.

My second rescued NOID is opening. It will probably open tomorrow. It will be double. I'll post a picture tomorrow.

The first pink single is not affected by rain. It was raining really hard today, but the flowers have not changed. I love the warm pink of this one. It goes very well with other pinks, and reds. I am happy with this one. Smiling

Csandt and Mieko, your NOIDs are beatiful. Love the simplicity and elegance of single flowers.

Jasmin,
Thanks for tip, but I do not think it is the one - I generally like rose fragrance and this is not the case here :).

CS, Did you ask Gilbert Wild who it could be? or go to their web-page and see if you could find one similar? Smiling

No, I did not ask GW what it could be. I just told them the plants were mis-labeled, and they readily provided credit toward a future purchase. I have their 2014 catalog, which I used to order the mis-labeled plants. The only logical match from the 2014 catalog, based on color and bloom time, would be Scarlet O'Hara. However, if the mix-up could involve peonies not sold that year, I suppose there could be other possibilities.GW is such a large grower, investigating could be a daunting challenge.

I am curious about your question; i.e., whether asking GW might actually be informative. I had assumed that since they have a reputation for mis-identifying plants, they would not be much help. In your experience, would that be a poor assumption?

I don't know. I just figure it never hurts to ask. They might be able to identify it for you if they were only digging and selling one or two single reds that year. I think that they do grow some of their stuff on site, so... All they could tell you is, "we don't know." Smiling I'd send them a picture of it and who knows, maybe they can help. Smiling

Henry Chotkowski told me they had a really bad flood in the fields years ago and never really got their identifications down after that. He told me that he and his wife stopped by there and walked the fields on their way up to the APS convention, said that was the only way he could be sure that he'd get what he ordered. I contacted them about the Astarte that wasn't Astarte, did ask if they could id it. They credited the amount but couldn't tell me what it is. It's a very pretty peony, like it a lot but would be nice to have a name to go with it. Maybe I'll just make up my own.....maybe I'll just do NOID A through Z and just assign a name like naming hurricanes.....still need to change my tags on Adelman's Orphan as well...

I received a mislabeled peony from GW a couple of years ago.

I emailed them with a photo of the plant.

One of the co-owners easily identified the plant.
