Hello, Hibiscus folks! Welcome to the virtual tour of the Hibiscus show I went to today. I'm adding the pictures to the plant database, too. It was held in Pinellas Park, FL by the Sunset Chapter of the American Hibiscus Society. I'll do this in several posts because I don't want to risk losing all the pictures I upload due to a glitch.

You'll see some repeats because different people entered the same cultivar, but they still vary a bit. And in the final post, I'll show the Best of Show flowers and tell you what category they won. Let's go!

'C'est Bon'

'Peppermint Star'

'Cajun Grey Lady' (First photo in the database!)

'Stolen Kiss'

'Untamed Heart' (Another first!)

'Anderson's Double Red' (I can't find this exact name in the database. I see 'Anderson's Double Yellow Red'. A little help?)

Thumb of 2016-05-29/mellielong/99ef5c

'Sweet Cheeks' (Another first!)

This one was labeled 'Fantasy Lady' but all I see in the database is 'Lady Fantasy'. Can someone confirm the name for me?

Thumb of 2016-05-29/mellielong/6f597a

'Plum Starburst' (Another first! This is why I go to plant shows!)

'Heartbeat' (Another first. Feel free to tell me you love me.) Rolling on the floor laughing

'Bright Eyes' (Another first!)

This one is labeled 'White Pride of Hankins'. I get that 'Pride of Hankins' is a popular cultivar, but I don't see a white version in the database. Help?

Thumb of 2016-05-29/mellielong/8d05cb

'Fiji Island' We'll see a few of these. And I loved all of them!!! People seem to spell Fiji several different ways, though. Hilarious!

The handwriting is pretty bad on this label, but I think it says 'Treasure Wind Orange'. Can't find anything like that in the database.

'Elephant Ear' (It's labeled as 'Elephant Ears' and I see it listed like that when I Google, but they look like the same plant.)

'Exotic Lavender Lady' (The IHS website says this cultivar is not registered.)

'Hawaiian Salmon' (There's also a 'Salmon Hawaiian' in the database, but I'm putting it how they listed it. There's no pictures of either to compare.)

'Moorea Lanihei'

This one was labeled 'Albo' but it looks like Let me know what you think and I'll add it.

Thumb of 2016-05-29/mellielong/03bc2c

'Dainty White'

'Hawaiian Salmon' (again, but different person submitted it in the show)

'Turk's Cap' A lot of people grow these around Tampa.

Thumb of 2016-05-29/mellielong/6721c3

'Aloha Orange' (Not in the database, but I've seen it for sale recently at Lowe's.)

Thumb of 2016-05-29/mellielong/c94d42

'Tahitian Magenta Double Star' (Not in the DB but I saw it listed on the IHS cultivar list so I added it.)

'Bonaire Wind'

'Florida Sunset' (Another first! The real thing is better, though!) Hilarious!

'El Capitolio Yellow' (Also, not in DB. Not on IHS, either.)

Thumb of 2016-05-29/mellielong/8c225e

'El Capitolio' (The original, I'm guessing?)

'Saffron Moon'

'Whey Face' (Another first!)

Okay, break time! Drool over these while I post the next batch!

Around this time, one of the members came up to me and asked if I was a spy. Hilarious! I told him in my most official voice that I was from the National Gardening Association and that I was taking pictures to add to our Plant Database. This is why we need official t-shirts, right? @dave Get to work on it! Thumbs up

Okay, let's look at some more beautiful blooms!

'Moorea Moana Storm'

'Chads' (I thought that was a weird name, but it's in the DB. First pic!)

'Snow Queen' (I take it the name comes from the foliage.)

'Pride of Hankins' (We'll see this one a few times.)

'El Capitolio' This guy again!

'Dainty White' (Also a popular cultivar.)

The label says 'Mandrain Pink'. Maybe 'Madarin Pink', but I can't find that, either.

Labeled as 'Chinese Lantern' but I think they mean Chinese Lanterns (Hibiscus schizopetalus)

Thumb of 2016-05-29/mellielong/fb7251

'Pink on the Mountain' (Another first! And we'll see this one again!)

'Night Runner'

This one was labeled 'Luke's Inferno' which seems wrong from what I can tell. Pretty, though.

Thumb of 2016-05-29/mellielong/8e44c3

Found this one in the IHS list and asked to have it added. 'Cajun Orange Crush'

'Mystic Mist' (Can't find this one as a registered cultivar.)

Thumb of 2016-05-29/mellielong/ec093b

'Fire and Ice' (That handwriting was hard to decipher. Print clearly, folks!)

'Exotic Peppermint' (Not found as a registered cultivar.)

'Tahitian Brown Embers' (First photo! Comes by its name honest.)

'Madam X' (Another first!)

'Sunrise Yellow' (Can't find in the cultivar list, but I've seen it for sale at Lowe's.)

Thumb of 2016-05-29/mellielong/5b9c31

'Anderson's Double Yellow Red' (Here's one!)

'Bright Sun' (Another first!)

'Eye of Kali'

We saw the moon, now here's 'Saffron Sun'.

'Yellow Delight' (Almost clicked on the Daylily of the same name.) Rolling on the floor laughing

Here's another 'Exotic Lavender Lady'

'Mary Morgan' (Another first! I'm getting all the double acorn rewards!)

'Gabriel'

'Orange Slice' (Another first. We Floridians like our Hibiscus.)

'Anderson Crepe' (Not crape. Make sure you spell the names right at plant shows, folks!)

'Black Rainbow' (Another first, and my new metal band name.)

This one isn't in the DB (although when I Googled it was on DG). It seems like the Moorea series is maybe a French company from the website I saw? Anyway, I asked to have it added. This is 'Moorea Shadow Shadow'

'Miss Vermont' (Another first! I'm on a roll and filling in holes - in the DB, that is.)

This labeled is misspelled but I think it's supposed to be 'Berrylicious'. Doesn't look like the ones in the DB, though, so I didn't add it.

Thumb of 2016-05-29/mellielong/c9f33d

'Moorea Boondah Boo' (Another first! These Moorea folks are prolific, huh?)

'Acadian Spring' (Another first! The DB is getting so awesome.)

'Moorea Miss Moorea' (Another first! And these Moorea people are like the Hibiscus mafia, aren't they?)

Another 'Black Rainbow'

This seems like a good place to take a break. Stretch the hands. Grab a snack. Back in a few. I still have so much more to come!

Mmm...you guys gotta try the Smoked Gouda flavor Triscuits. They're so yummy. Let's see if I can eat and type. Hope you guys are enjoying the show. Sorry you have to put up with my side commentary. Rolling on the floor laughing Oh, I did learn that a "miniature" hibiscus is one that's under 5 inches. I'm assuming that means the bloom.

'Tahitian Arcturus Queen' (Another first!)

'Cajun Blue Star' (Another first! We have all the Hibiscus!)

'Storm Front' (Another first. And this time I did click on the Daylily by accident.) Rolling on the floor laughing

'Stormy Rainbow' (Another first! FYI, I keep pointing that out because I figure some of you may not have seen it before and I wanted you to be aware.)

'Cayenne Pepper' (Not in the DB but the IHS has it listed so I asked for it to be added.)

'President' (This one is also for sale at Lowe's right now.)

'Tahitian Lavender Pastel' (Another first! The label left the "Tahitian" off and I notice some leave the 'Moorea" off. Remember folks, if you participate in a plant show, you may get people who aren't familiar with the various series so put the whole name! I confirmed it with Google, FYI.)

'White Flash' (Another first! Shouldn't it be more white? Nope, I Googled it.) Hilarious!

'PM Miss Bahia' (Couldn't find in the DB but IHS has it listed so I asked to add it.)

'Kennadie Jade' (Not a misspelling!)

'Jane Cowl' (Who is this lady? She's also got a Dahlia and a Daylily.)

'Moorea Silver Sun' (Another first! They left the Moorea off, but I Googled it.)

'Florida Frappuccino' (This doesn't seem to be an official cultivar - yet? But there were at least two entries at the show. We also drove by a Starbucks and I wanted a Frap so bad!)

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/b8cf21

'Amber Suzanne' (Another first!)

'Lipstick' (I looked at this and thought that would make a lovely shade of lipstick.)

'Cynthia' (Another first!)

'Anderson's Double Yellow Red' (This one seems popular.)

'Butterscotch Splash' (Can't find this as an official cultivar.)

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/9e147b

'Exotic Peppermint' (This was exhibited in the commercial section by Exotic Hibiscus so I think maybe it's new and that's why it's not listed.)

Wait, I think I figured something out. The next entry is labeled 'Exotic Burning Desire'. But in the DB it's just 'Burning Desire'. So Exotic is the trade name and not part of the cultivar. We should probably fix that. Well, at least I can add 'Peppermint' now. Oh, and 'Exotic Lavender Lady' should just be 'Lavender Lady'. Lemme go fix that.

Here's 'Burning Desire'.

'Cajun Orange Crush' (Again, this was submitted by Exotic Hibiscus, and that's how they list it.)

'Wings of Fire' (Another first! Like I told Dad, who came with me, "These aren't the kind they sell at Home Depot!")

'Pink on the Mountain' (Told you we'd see it again.)

'Acapulco Gold' (The tag was misspelled and even I had to ask Google how to spell "Acapulco".) Rolling on the floor laughing

'Bayou Rose'

A couple more 'Fiji Island'. I didn't think Fiji was hard to spell, but apparently for some people, it is.

Ok folks, I have to make a pot of tea and watch "Game of Thrones". I'll continue at 10:00 pm if I'm not completely devastated by whatever they do this week. Until then, a Hodor to you.

Wow, "Game of Thrones" didn't make me cry tonight. That's a relief.

Hey, I was just thinking that I hope now that I'm adding pictures to some that didn't have them, maybe they could be featured for the "Plant of the Day". Although, that probably means no one is growing them and wouldn't be able to comment. But hey, maybe these photos will tempt some of you! Also, shout out to Carole @SongofJoy who has added a lot to the Hibiscus database. I keep seeing her name and I wanted to recognize her contributions. Now back to the show! FYI, I'm not even halfway through my photos!

'C'est Bon'

'Love Story'

'Hawaiian Salmon' (A slightly different perspective on this one.)

'Yellow Bird' (Another first! This one reminds me of my 'Fort Myers Yellow'.)

'Little Rapscallion' (Another first! And horribly misspelled on the label.) Rolling my eyes.

'Apricot Brandy'

'El Capitolio Sport'

'Me-Oh My-Oh' (That name was hard to find in the DB!)

'Love Bite' (Another first! I like this one!)

This 'Cynthia' looks a lot better than the other one I took a picture of.

'Black Dragon' (I just saw one of those on "Game of Thrones" and it wasn't nearly as pretty!) Rolling on the floor laughing

I took a picture without realizing this one didn't have a tag. They had a bunch of blooms on the front table just decorating the place and I think this one migrated. But isn't it pretty?

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/1f1bd8

'Nectar Pink' (Another first! Also, I should have been a teacher because I have the ability to interpret some really bad handwriting.)

'Big Easy' (Not in the DB, but the IHS has it so I asked for it to be added.)

Okay, the next section was called "Seedlings" and I'm assuming that means they were grown from seed. Most of them had the parents listed, but not all. I assumed these might not be in the database, but I'll check anyway. I am out of my comfort zone in this forum so help a newbie out! I can totally answer your butterfly questions, though. Come visit me on my forum (see my signature). All right, enough talk. More pictures!

'Exotic Beauty' (This was submitted by a person, not the vendor, so I'm not sure what's up. This is also the lady with terrible handwriting.) The parent plants appear to read "Female: Creole Lady, Male: Who Knew".

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/f3d0a0

Unnamed. Female parent is 'Seminole Pink', for male parent they put a question mark. Does that make it an illegitimate child? Rolling on the floor laughing

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/f3faea

'Sarasota Sunset' I see we have 'Sarasota Sunrise' in the DB so maybe this is new? They folded the tag so you can't see the parent plants. Maybe it's top secret!

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/3d3ed3

'Joy's Firebird' This one says the female parent is 'President' and the male parent is unknown.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/1cef32

'Baby Carson' Both parents listed as unknown.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/d9c1bf

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/371596

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/6f5b11

'Sunset Zoo' Parents unknown.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/837593

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/10d204

Okay, I think we're back to cultivars again. And if I remember, the next bunch should be miniatures.

'Hurricane Lily' (Another first! I wish it wasn't quite so blurry. My bad!)

'Snow Queen' (Nicer than the earlier one.)

'Moon Maiden' (Not in the DB but on the IHS list. I had to get this one added. Look at that!) Drooling

Okay, this one looks like it reads 'Storkii". Or 'Stork II'. I searched many variations and I can't figure out what this is. Even thought it might be a species name. I don't think we have it, anyway. Just enjoy the pretty flower.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/fceeb0

'Hawaiian Salmon' Yes, again. This one must be popular around here.

'Sprinkle Rain' (Another first!)

'Candy Wind'

'El Capitolio Sport'

'C'est Bon' The tags say we're still in the miniature section. Maybe it's a judging thing and only applies to the bloom and not the whole plant?

'Cajun Sunrise'

'Sunny Wind' Looks like a few of our users have this one!

'Leapin' Lizard' This one does not seem to be in the DB or the IHS list.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/dc910b

'Creole Lady' Looks like a few of you have this one, too! And you should! Thumbs up

'Buckshot' Not in our DB, but in the IHS list so I asked to add it.

'Petra' Another first!

'Mandarin Wind'

'Sylvia Goodman'

This is listed as 'Special Friend' but all I see in the DB and IHS is 'Special Friend's Day'. Confused

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/5ec417

'Voodoo Queen' Okay, this is another first, but I see there was a thread about this cultivar posted a week ago with lots of pictures. It was from a new member, but remember, you have to remind people sometimes to add their pictures to the DB. Or import them yourself! Or talk them through the process!

'Cajun Cocktail' Another first! Lots of Cajun cultivars. African Violets have that, too. Oh, I just realized there were two of them next to each other. So you get two pics!

'Cajun Blue Star' We had one of these earlier, too!

'Fiji Island' This one is popular, but I can see why!

'Snow Queen' Also popular!

'Psyche'

Found another 'Cajun Cocktail'

'Purple Magic'

'Mystic Mist' Hmm...another one and I still can't find this cultivar.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/7b50f6

'Kiss and Tell'

Sing it with me...Hold me closer 'Cosmic Dancer'. Hey, it's after midnight. That's when my silly gets sillier. Rolling on the floor laughing

'Sensation' Another first, and another one in the Exotic series.

'Erin Rachael' I'm glad this is already in the DB. The handwriting is terrible!

'Dark Princess' Had to request this one as it's not in the DB but on the IHS list.

Another first here, and as Jim Morrison said, Come on baby, 'Light My Fire'.

'Sunny Wind' I see some of the Hibiscus, like this one, are part of the Tropical Escape series. They sell them at Lowe's but they never have the cultivar name which is kind of annoying. I'm one of those people that wants the names of my plants.

'Hula Girl'

Okay, I feel like I better post this and start a new post. My computer and this site are pretty reliable, but let's not take unnecessary chances.

One feature of the plant tags that I like is that they fold up so the judges can't see who submitted them. That way, I guess you're not influenced because the person is your friend. They had them unfolded for the show because they had already been judged. I had one lady come up and teasingly tell me to only take pictures of the ones with the white tags because those were hers. I'm a democratic gardener though, so everyone got a glamour shot! FYI, if you ever participate in a plant show and have a lot of entries, here's a tip. Lots of people were using address labels (you know sometimes you get them free in the mail from charities and such). That way they didn't have to fill out thirty tags over and over.

'Alluring Diamond' Another first. Hibiscus people need to start representing!

'Petra' We saw another one of these earlier. One of the participants was named Melanie so I would have been biased to give her high marks. We Melanies are an exceptional bunch! Rolling on the floor laughing

'Champagne'

This one is labeled 'I'm a Pink'. I think it's supposed to be 'I Am Pink' but I'm not sure the color is quite right. It's lighter than the one on the IHS website. Let me know what you think, or just go ahead and import it if you think you know it.

'Estelle K' Another first!

'Tres Bon' Another first! Now, I took Spanish, not French, but I think this means it's better than 'C'est Bon'. Rolling on the floor laughing

'Voodoo Doll' Another first!

'Montego Wind' Another first! Are we ready for a tropical getaway yet?

'Voodoo Queen'

This is probably 'Anderson's Double Yellow Red' but it's not labeled quite right so I won't add it. FYI, it's labeled 'Double Anderson Rd'.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/2ab453

'Treasure Wind Pink' Can't find this one. Didn't I have the orange earlier?

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/b08ae2

'Moorea Moana Storm' (FYI, we're out of the miniature tags now.)

'Seminole Pink" I thought I had already posted this, but this is the first! One of the seedlings had this as a parent and you can tell.

'Stolen Kiss' This one has a darker center than the other one I posted.

'C'est Bon' Popular, huh?

Whew! Zuzu just approved the ones I wanted to add so I had to go back and upload the photos before I forgot!

'Cajun Cocktail' This one is pretty popular, too! I swear these are actually different flowers; I'm not repeating any.

'President' Like I said before, they had a ton of these for sale at Lowe's.

This one was labeled undetermined. Pretty sure that's not a cultivar. Could you imagine? I don't think any of the plant societies would let you name a cultivar that.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/436afe

'Pohai Ke Aloha' Have to bug Zuzu again as this was is in the IHS but not our DB . And this deserves to be in the DB!

'Pink on the Mountain' This is the third one that was at the show!

'Spin the Bottle' Do kids still even do this? Forget it, I don't want to know!

'Hotsy Totsy' Another first!

'Arizona Red' Another first! Suggestion - could you imagine this planted with Blanket Flowers (Gaillardia) around it? That would be gorgeous.

'Candy Wind'

'Neela's Orange' Not listed in the IHS, but I found an article about it. This article also explains why everyone said they were heading to Fort Myers next. http://www.news-press.com/stor...

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/af3a35

'Madame Dupont' Another first! The Dupont family has a lot of flowers named after them. I guess that makes sense though, since they're in the chemical business.

'Ice Fairy' I had to lean over the flowers to take pictures and I ended up pollinating my t-shirt. Hilarious!

'Hawaiian Sunset' I know nearly nothing, and even I could have guessed there was a cultivar with this name. Rolling my eyes. And this is the first pic? Really?

'Who Dat' Another first! This cultivar must be a Saints fan. (Yeah, I know football, too!)

'Sweet Cheeks' This is better than the other one I posted.

'C'est Bon' Another one? Wow.

Another 'Creole Lady'.

I forgot to mention it, but we entered "gold sticker" territory a while back. So if the flowers are starting to look better, that's because they are. They had blue, red, gold, and then the best of show awards from what I can tell. I'm not into judging. I'm very non-judgmental. Rolling on the floor laughing But if you wondered why we're seeing a lot of repeats, I think these are the best of the ones that were entered. And maybe the popular cultivars are hits with the judges?

Another 'Voodoo Queen". See what I mean? This one is gorgeous!

Another 'Love Bite'.

'Creole Belle' Another first and boy, am I glad. Look at that! Drooling

'Rebellious Lady' Another first! I'm drowning in acorns!

Another 'Seminole Pink'. FYI, in case FSU didn't make you aware, the Seminoles are the Indian tribe that lives in this area.

'Fantasy Charm' So floofy! I love floofy!

Another 'Peppermint Star'

'Jim Berry' Another first! This is fun!

Another 'Tahitian Lavender Pastel'

'Whipped Cream' Another first!

Ironically, it was sitting next to 'Florida Frappuccino'. Rolling on the floor laughing Now, I really want to go to Starbucks!

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/647390

'Foxy Lady' Shout out to Jimi Hendrix!

'Tahitian Taui' Another first, and a hard one to find. Print people! Print the name on the tag! No cursive!

'Big Easy' Isn't this one I had added to the DB? Good for me!

'Golden Gate' is how this was labeled, but I Googled and I think it's wrong. It looks like another 'Big Easy', am I right? FYI, I take a pic of the flower, and then a pic of the tag. So I'm looking at the tag pics and it's not like I mixed them up. I think it just got mislabeled so I won't add it to the DB. But enjoy looking!

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/47add4

'Voila!' Another first!

'Carmel Dawn' No, I'm not misspelling that. It's in the IHS list that way. I put in a request to add it to our DB.

'Mayan Princess' Can't find this cultivar listed. There is a Begonia with that name, though.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/06dd19

'Black Rainbow' Umm...that's what it says, but it sure isn't what it looks like. I'm not going to add this one.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/e9ea22

'Me-Oh My-Oh' I'm not a fan of hyphens. Makes it hard to search.

Melania, Hibiscus storckii is a species name but Catalog of life list it as a synonym of H. rosa-sinensis. I kind of feel like (but I'm not a botanist) it should be a separate species or at a subspecies/var. Here is an interesting article on the topic.

'Purple Magic' This one is a lot nicer than the other one at the show.

'Bright Eyes' Here's another one you can see is much better than the other one in the show.

'Mystic Mist' Still can't find this cultivar but it seems popular down here.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/d58732

'Zydeco' Another first! This is pretty!

Another 'Cosmic Dancer'

'Swamp Fire' Had to request this one be added to the DB.

'PM Hidden Mystery' Another one I need added to the DB. FYI, at this point in the show I was in the section where the vendors were exhibiting. I guess they separate them out for obvious reasons.

'Mayan Princess' Still can't find this cultivar.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/48da62

'Seven Seas' Another one that needs added to the DB. It's nice the IHS has a handy list of cultivars.

'Howard's Stage' Yet another to add to the DB. I wonder if we had a lot of newer cultivars?

This is labeled 'Snow Cherry', but I looked and I think it's actually 'Cherry Snow'. I say that by looking at the IHS genealogy pages. The exhibitor was Exotic Hibiscus and their site lists it as 'Snow Cherry', but I think they're wrong. So just enjoy the pic.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/1d9722

This one was labeled 'H Bunny' which I would think is 'Honey Bunny', but I can't find a picture of it anywhere so I can't compare. Correct labeling is so important!

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/94e8ed

'Wonderful Daughter' Can't find this cultivar.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/262d8d

'Smaug' Doesn't seem to be an official cultivar, but I see some places are selling it. FYI, Smaug is the name of the dragon in "The Hobbit".

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/dc5b2a

'Electric Blue' IHS lists this cultivar as "not registered".

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/24a7dd

'Barry's Arabian Nights' Another first!

'Rocket's Red Glare'

'Blueberry' Another first!

'Night Runner'

'Red Cadillac' Another one to be added to the DB.

'Zydeco'

'Radiant'

These Exotic Hibiscus folks have serious spelling problems. Even on their own website! This is Vero's something. The bloom looks like Vero's Saree. But what the tag says is totally different.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/54ada7 Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/e0537d

Unlisted

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/a18c68

'Love Zone' Can't find this as a registered cultivar.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/b910b6

'Windy Days' Another first!

'Cajun Sun' Another first!

'Clair de Luna' This is from Exotic Hibiscus and is not the Moorea cultivar, 'Clair de Lune'.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/bffa39

'King Byron' This was labeled as 'King Bayron' but I confirmed it on the IHS. If you guys ever order from Exotic Hibiscus, please note their spelling is terrible so please confirm what you are buying!

'Miss Rosy' Can't find this cultivar.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/6506f3

Okay, we're out of the vendor section and back to regular folks.

'Cajun Rising Moon' Not in the DB, but listed in the IHS so I asked for it to be added.

'Chartreuse Rose' Another first!

'Moonlight Madness' Another first! Not to be confused with 'Barry's Moonlight Madness' which looks totally different. See, I look before I post! I can't always trust these tags.

This one was labeled 'Peach Pink' which isn't a correct name. It doesn't look close enough to any similar named cultivars for me to feel like I can add it.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/5c1a89

'White Kalakaua' This was misspelled White Kalakawa, but I'll forgive them since it's a Hawaiian word.

'Saffron Moon'

'Wally's Pride' Can't find this one.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/105942

'Cele Tinney' Another first! Another misspelling! Sighing!

'Cynthia'

Another 'Saffron Moon'

'Peach Blow' Another first!

'Saffron Sun' As opposed to the moon. Hilarious!

'Mini Ballerina' Another first!

'Triple XXX' Another first!

'Chartreuse Rose'

'Lavender Lady'

'New Idea' Another first!

'Almond Toffee' Can't find this cultivar.

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/915331

'Chiffon Pink' Not in the DB but listed in IHS. Better request an add.

'Pride of Hankins'

'Peach Blow Sport'

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/d33c66

H. schizopetalus

'Sweet Cheeks'

'Pink Pride of Hankins'

Thumb of 2016-05-30/mellielong/061eb0

'Pride of Hankins' This one sure is popular!

Okay, Zuzu just approved my requests so let me go add those pictures. Next up is Best of Show so get excited!

That Hibiscus coccineus looks like one called 'Red Flyer' which is a cross between H. cocineus and H. grandiflorus.

Jay, I told the BBB forum their moderator has been MIA because I'm currently harassing the Hibiscus forum. Rolling on the floor laughing

all I have to say is it's a fortunate thing for my family that I can't grow these because otherwise they would be homeless... Hilarious!

Tahitian Sentinel Sunset is not registered yet but Darren Eminian, its hybridizer, will do soon.
That last "Light my Fire" bloom is the correct one. The other isn't well labeled.
Mystic Mist is a Sonny Stollings' hybrid. I think it will be registered soon also.
Mayan Princess is from Jorge Ortiz. He doesn't register his blooms. Florida Frappuccino is also one of his cvs.
The registered name is Cherry Snow but it started being known as Snow Cherry.
H Bunny is the correct name. It's from Buddy Short who hybridized also Howard's Stage.
Wonderful Daughter is by Curt Sinclair (owner of Exotic Hibiscus)
Smaug is by Matt Martindale. He doesn't register his cvs.
Electric Blue - and many other cvs - is listed as "Not Registered" 'cause its hybridizer doesn't register blooms. The IHS adds them with such suffix.
The label for Red Cadillac is incorrect.
Radiant is registered as HVH Radiant.
The correct label for Cajun Sun is Cajun Sunrise.
The registered name is HVH Clair de Lune.
What is tagged as Miss Rosy is actually Nectar Pink.
The correct name is Exotic Lavender Lady.

Carlos, you can suggest additions and changes to the database. It would be very helpful.

Okay, time for Best Of Show! They had them lined up along the stage and even from across the room, my Dad said these "would knock your eyes out". He likes to use that phrase. Hilarious! I'll add the pictures to the DB after so you guys don't see me posting them on the front page. I want it to be a surprise! I'll list what category they won, too.

Awesome, Mellie! Entering all those photos into the database was quite a job! I really enjoyed looking at them in this thread, though. It was so easy to backtrack to compare a few. Thanks!
