I agree. What a beautiful jungle. Yesterday I had to go thru my paths with scissors. Everything is spilling over it's borders. I love it. It is so hot, however, I don't understand how they can stand this heat.
And Jo Ann, I can totally relate to the bareness that winter brings. That's why I am working on my garden art. Hopefully it will take away some of the winter blues and emptiness this year.
Allison knowes me from the other website.
I am retired and moved from a close neighborhood to a far suburban hood with my DD and SIL. I work in and on garden related stuff everyday.
Winters I plan my containers and make changes every year.,anything to kep from being bored.
Thanks everyone.
I was so disoriented when we moved in. I just stuck bulbs and plants from the old house anywhere.
Too lazy to move any of the 6 or so plants I joined SG and had a "garden enlightenment" Many gardeners were showing gardens I dreamed of so I paied attention and sked questions, the rest is history.
I recieved so many plants from DG'ers I HAD to organize or loose controle of everything.I need to remember 2 other people share this space.
I dont do another thing around here but spend the winter planning ( first 3 years was expensive)
The rest of the time I paint.
I am hireing a guy to help clean and spread compost this fall. Its too much for me to do now.I wilsh I was 50 again.
Allison I remember something you once said" all flowers are beautiful, no matter where they are planted" Its so true. I havnt seen a bad grden on the web.
This was a project I did with my neighbor yesterday. She found this old bedspring (probably from a car seat) and wanted to do something fun with it. She originally wanted to hang it, but after we talked about putting cuttings from my succulents in it and letting them root horizontally for a few weeks before it went on the fence, she decided to make a flat centerpiece out of it instead. We put small pieces of plastic screen at the narrow part of the springs, stuffed the openings with moss, put a little soil in for the succulents, and then added some small disco-balls and candles. Voila!
That is very clever Janet. Where will she place it? It will be beautiful at night with the candles lit. Wonder if there is a way to place candles at each point where four plants meet (2 per column)?
Lynn, she wanted it more "crazy-quilt" with no even numbers or patterns. It's going to sit in the middle of her outdoor dining table for now. We'll see if that's where it stays! Probably pillar candles could be put in some of the spots between the plants, but they'd need some support and might hide the framework, which she wants visible. I was thinking last night after we were done that we might be able to twine white fairy-lights through it.....
