Oh, these are so beautiful! I miss mine so much...as soon as I got close to this clump, I could smell that sweet honey scent. Bex is going up to the wholesale nursery in Coos Bay tomorrow and if she asks if I want her to pickl up anything for me, I'll have her get me a romneya. I found one here last year and planted it in a bad spot...it was not a very robust plant that I bought (only one she had) and it didn't make it through Winter, either drowned or hit with the VW. These are at the Botanical Garden in Brookings....

Oh your poppies look spectacular! I put out hundreds of seeds, I liked the "Persian Blue" so much I tried several other colors. Only two came up, and they were in the greenhouse! Probably tracked in on my shoes, LOL. Oh well, there is always next year. I don't know if the birds and bugs ate the seeds or if the weather has just been so funky is why they never germinated.

Sherry, can you grow the Romneyas from seed, or you talking about something else? As if I had room for them...

Romneyas CAN be grown from seed though I think it's rather difficult....some say you need to seed the flat and then set the top layer on fire to get them to germinate.....I do know one person, Amy Winslow, I've lost track of her now, she had Moonrise Nursery in Thousand Oaks and she said she was having success from seed grown without resorting to fire....generally, roots are dug in Nov-Dec for propagating. Some of the garden club members in Fb were digging the just before their garden club sale (another time of year, I believe Spring) and said they had success....but I don't know if anyone followed up on that with the buyers to make sure the plants lived.

And I still have a gabillion seedlings that need potting up. I did some, but apparently good intentions are not enough. Sighing!

Love everyone's blooms!

My epis have winded down for the season, glad it is now the turn of my noid rescue orchid to bloom! I know it is of the Oncidium alliance and my best guess it is some type of Miltassia. Happy it endured our heat wave last week and continued on to bloom today:

My seedlings have to get done by Monday because I'm tired of worrying about them. Maybe I need one of those procrastination badges.

Oh...so lovely. I brought one up here with me but it did not make it through this last Winter...sigh. This last Winter= the dividing line. Much came through Winter before last just fine only to succumb to hard frosts this last year.

Seems like my slow to bloom plants have talked amongst themselves and finally decided it is time to start blooming finally this June! Hurray! Not a profuse bloom, but I will take what they can give! Ironically, temps are rather cool, in the 65F to 85F range. Maybe they just waited patiently for the week long heat wave last week to pass: Big Grin
