I'm very happy with this nepeta tuberosa...and so happy that somehow one seed of this managed to come up here with me in a pot.....the pot produced a dodonea seedling and the nepeta seedling, though I did not know what it was at the time. I will have seeds from this should anyone want them, bearing in mind that the first year of the plant's life, it does not look like this...wimpy the first year....or you can just buy one from Annie....$8...your choice.

I like your nepeta tuberosa, especially the bloom color shown with Maple tree... like Lepechinia hastata too.
If a plant looks good, smells good, don't eat it, grow it!

The lepechinia is scented...I'm a sucker for scented things. I have not handled the nepeta to see if it's scented, don't know if the cats will be attracted to it, but don't want to release any scent to find out. I can't grow any of the other nepetas because the cats destroy them...LOL...oddly enough, I'd never had problems with centranthus until one of the neighbor cats discovered it...otherwise, I've grown that for years and the cats have ignored it.

I also thought the dark green of the Maple tree made the lavender / purple colored flowers stand out a lot more...

Thank you....

I just learned how to post an image from the plant database, so have to try it out. I decided on this one to remind me of what I'm waiting for.

Ha! It works.

Is it a ginger family, Carol?

Yep, ginger it is. I think mine are a different variety - more pink, less purple, but won't know for sure unless they bloom someday. Patience is supposed to be one of those virtues, right? Hilarious!

Oh, nice yellow blooms! Seems like yellow is the color of the day!

My Astrophytum myriostigma in bloom:

Noid Plumeria yellow continues on to bloom, one bloom got fried during the 105F temps, but it is much better now, so other buds are starting to bloom as well, still doing it one at a time. Fun to see a mantid nymph hanging around.

Yes I do too, Sherry, but I have to run a gamut of cats that think they are most important.

Well, of course, Glen...I did mean after I feed the cats.....

We have a neighbor who feeds the strays and they stay there, I don't consider them her cats...she does not take them in for spaying or neutering...the Other neighbor does that. So...Susan has one who's been staying at her place and he's the sweetest cat ever and I think he's ill, very thin...then she mentions that what she puts out, and all the critters eat, including the possums, raccoons, etc...is DRY DOG FOOD. So she's gone to Montana for a month and has a young man staying at her place and I'm assuming he still puts out the dry dog food...She calls this cat Daffodil, thinking he's a female...I call him Taffy...him I'm feeding all day, as much as he will eat. Then we have a new pretty gray kitty who's just shown up and we suspect she might be going to be a Momma kitty, so the neighbor who rescues cats and dogs is going to take her picture around the block to people we're unsure of and make sure she does not belong to someone before we decide what to do...we have a really good cat Humane Society here, and she may go there to have her babies and find homes, we shall see, but in the meantime, she's eating here also...so these two got fed first this a.m. before my coffee and camera time...LOL..

Are they both not gorgeous?!

No, I don't. I take my first cup of coffee, a smoke, and my moisture meter to see which pots are dry. Then, after watering, if I'm not too shakey, I grab my camera.

I think I live with that camera in my hand lately. I walk outside into an incredible morning and look at the plants and think, "OMG! Look at that!"...LOL. I do not know how I ever lived without a digital camera...say what you want about the state of our current world...at least we got digital cameras out of the deal......

Oh, I love the grey kitty! Such an intelligent face. We're starting to get a lot of cats around here again. They're hanging out under the hummer feeders, and behind the bird bath, so I'm keeping a spray bottle of water on the porch...again. The cat population runs in waves around here. When the numbers go too high, the traps come out. I no longer participate in either feeding or trapping. Busted one in the orchid shack this morning, and had some plants knocked off the top shelf last week. Whether cat or possum, I don't know, but even if I remember to close the door at night, they can get in from the wedge shaped windows at the top that aren't screened. The 10' block wall is a freeway for critters.

Re: Gray Kitty...yes, isn't she stunning?...and after they're fed, they all come up and thank you before leaving....

We do have a new Tom hanging around also, I've been chasing him off because he comes and fights with Elbie, but Angie and jamie say he's a well behaved cat...one neighbor claims him, but we know he will never neuter him and this cat roams and fights, so Jamie is going to kidnap him and have him neutered and we doubt that Kevin will ever be any the wiser....

I can see both sides of that issue. I once had a mixed Siamese tom that had a personality that I adored, so between $ and personality I didn't get him fixed.... until he got a severe case of mange and I had animal control knocking on my door. I had to have him put down, and it broke my heart, but in those days it was a case of feed the kids or spend the money on vet. bills. I had to opt for the kids.
