I have never had a problem with them shipped bare root and I much prefer it.

I shall henceforth count you all as enablers of my collecting \"disease\".

There is a specific type that is safe for them. It is also safe for other annual and prennials. I used it on a small section that has older plants in it last year and it worked really good. not much else gets imbedded in the clumps like some of the grasses do.

It's called Hi-Yield Grass Killer. I got it at the feed mill, but have seen it on E-bay. Try Here...

http://cgi.ebay.com/Hi-Yield-G...

That is about what it normally sells for so if you can find it locally you can save on the shipping. DO NOT BUY THE ONE THAT is labeled KILLZ ALL by the same company. There are other brands but I have not used them.

Wow, I've been temped by So Succulents, but think I'll pass.

FWIW, I've used all the various brands of over the top grass killer on my daylilies with great success. They all use the same chemical.
I've got a few hundred daylilies and tried breeding them for a while, but ran out of space. Grass is a huge problem when you live on prairie.
