Sounds like you should have good results like Chris did Terri. Maybe this person just needs to learn how to package things. The cell growing is a problem though, it is cheap to grow things in them. But like you, I never had good results using cells in the past so won't even try them anymore. Now growing into the formed nursery tray cells works great for starting baby plants. I have had good luck with that, as must Jackie, I think that is what she is using.

Do you have a photo of the cell flats Jackie?

I would rather have bareroot plants wrapped in newspaper than just jumbled in there like that.

The plug flats that you're asking about are 72 cell plug trays that fit into a 1020 flat, and the plants are not really big so I was almost thinking I could just put two sticks carefully between some of them, to give the next flat something to set on. I can put lots of newspaper (not crumpled, just several sheets) and each one will at least be supported on the sticks. They are really dry, so they're not heavy at least. I'll go take a picture.

Well received my "replacement" order. Didn't receive an email saying she was shipping. Last email I received from her said she wanted to wait for them to grow more. She shipped them off and they sat at the PO for 5 days. Not pretty as they were wet wet wet. Had they been dry, they would have been fine. Plants are larger (but still fragile) and damage was not extensive, but the wet was deadly for many. I will have to cut off the tops and hope the remaining plant parts root in. The semps fared better than the sedums. However, semps overall are hardier than sedums.

IMHO Epic Fail! Not recommended. Thumbs down

Not one single sedum I got from her made it and I didn't really think they would. They semps are doing pretty good considering the condition they arrived in. But I agree - not recommended.

I never ship things wet! You're guaranteed to have a black mushy mess, and what an idiot, not to even alert you that it had shipped. What a shame - she should be shot with her own shipment!

One of those looks really, really bad, the others should be okay with time. Get them out of the little peat pots as soon as you can. Sad

It's amazing how resilient these plants are. I've got them and they are dried up little bits, with no soil and very little roots, and in a month or two, they look just fine. I always ship them dry as a bone, so I'm sure that some people get them and shriek!

I almost purchased from her last year, and when I asked about picking up I really didn't like the answer so I passed. She is not too far from me so I figured I'd make an appointment go over pick some things out payfor them and be on my way. I think she wanted me to buy and pay for them and she'd leave the box out for me. Like I said I didn't like the answer so I just moved on. I really don't like the fact that she is redirecting people from E-bay to her site either. I would not do it for the lack of protection myself and if I got a box that looked like that I'd giver her a chance to fix it and if that didn't work I'd file a claim. It's sad, she obviously has nice plants but can't get the shipping right, if she were to just roll those plugs in newspaper and pack the box properly it would be great.

I spent quite a while on the phone with her telling her how to ship them... She said that it has just been rainy and her plants are weak from lack of light. Doesn't explain why she didn't listen. She also said she had purchased a lot of those compressed peat things (that I told her she shouldn't use anymore). Some people just don't want to be helped. I ended up with very few sedum from my order(s) from them. I did purchase off ebay so I do have the feedback option. I've been mulling it over. I don't leave poor feedback lightly.

She is not kidding about the rain we've had here! I think we set a new record for the amount of rain we had in May, I do not ever remember having so much and June has also been pretty bad as well. Today is the first good day in almost a week my beds in the back are really damp. I have had problems with grass inbedded in some clumps of daylilys so I bought an over the top grass killer to use but have not had the 3 or 4 days in a row without rain that I need to use it. It looks like I'll be spraying tomorrow. Yes thos look like Jiffy 7 peat pellets. I wouldn't think they would be good for Semps since they hold moisture, and would come apart too easily. I would prefer bare rooted plants.

MAKE BELIEVE MAGIC
