Hi everyone,

Just want to say Hi and join this forum...
I tried several seeds this Spring and quite a few are doing well, right now they are growing and blooming :
Alyssum, poppies, forget me not, convolvulus, nasturtium, morning glory, marigold, pansy, viola, zinnia, phlox, snapdragon, and veggies are spinach, swiss chard, cilantro, tomatoes, peppers, peas, zucchinis, kales, basil, parsleys...
I am hoping for a mild Summer so I can enjoy my flowers blooms longer and get some produces out of my backyard beds...

Thank you,
Nanette

Welcome!

Your garden sounds like it is well on its way.
I hope that you get good weather so you can enjoy it longer.

I am just getting started with some things here, but we have had a warm spell with winds. My tomatoe plants are suffering!

I've grown my tomatoes from seed for years, but this year I didn't. I bought small plants at a local nursery. They look healthy but have stayed small. We have a shot of very hot weather coming up (in the 90s for 5 days) so they should like that.

Thank You! all...I do not know why, but I joined this Forum kind of late...I'm mainly in Daylily and Irises, ones that I just got started this Spring...
Here in DFW, North Texas, the Summer is fierce so I don't usually grow much veggies unless they don't mind Hot and dry condition which mostly do...
Tomatoes has been quite good, greeens are great too...Peppers not so much unless they are Hot Asian Peppers...I have been trying to get Eggplants, that has not been great too...
All of my beds are raised beds, because we dont have good soil or any soil I should say...the subdivision lot sitting on limestone rocks with some silt/white clay...
Once again Thank you all for the wonderful welcome and I know I hit a jackpot when I join ATP/NGO, I got to meet so many lovely and kind gardening friends !
Have a great day !

Hi Nanette, and welcome to the forum!

I love many of the things you're growing:
Alyssum, poppies, forget me not, convolvulus, marigold, pansy, viola, zinnia & snapdragons, and
spinach, swiss chard, tomatoes, peppers & peas. For me, I planted alyssum once and it came back on its own for years, even choking out weeds.

If you like spinach, chard and kale, you might like tatsoi or komatsuna or Bok Choy, or the very mild and productive "Holland Greens", a.k.a. 'Tyfon'. Those are cool-weather crops, hence early spring and late fall crops for you. Tatsoi and Tyfon might be winter crops for you, or at least over-winter and start up early in spring. One nice thing is that these greens can be eaten very young if hot weather is coming - they are more tender and sweet that way, anyway.

BTW, "yard-long beans" love heat.

P.S. DogsNDaylilies is organizing another seed swap, to start trading in, ummm:
Swap Start Date: Saturday, September 3
http://garden.org/apps/swap/vi...

This is for "all seeds". Last time, there was a wide variety of vegetables and flowers. And this swap will be International, so who knows who will join?

So how is the harvest going?
Or is it all in grow mode still?
