Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Wild and Wonderful')

Edited by Char - Becky, I corrected your opening post. Wild and Wonderful was hybridized by Patrick Stamile not Grace.
Patrick was the first person to register using the name Stamile. Daylily cultivar registrations with the hybridizer listed "Stamile" are always Patrick's registrations.
Grace used the Stamile name for registrations after Patrick. Her registrations will always be shown as "Stamile-G".

I've had W&W for four years. It's one of my favorites. I think it actually gets a little taller for me than the 36" registered. It is a keeper for me. I'm in zone 5a and W&W is an evergreen that does very well in my location. I like all daylilies, but spiders hold a special place in my heart. Lovey dubby Actually it is an "Unusual Form - Crispate", but I call it a spider.

Last year I pollenated it with Velvet Beads. Will be anxious to see what comes of the seedlings.

This is the second year for 'Wild and Wonderful', in my zone 6 gardens. It is slow to increase, but the gorgeous blooms are worth the wait! Hurray!

Definitely in my top five!! I tip my hat to you.

It's not going anywhere because the bloom is so very attractive. But in my growing conditions it is slower to increase and not as prolific with scapes and buds compared to other plants. The net result is a shorter bloom time span than for other cultivars. It has bloomed about 3 weeks from first bloom to the last and never had any rebloom. It's growing in a large container in a climate that tends to be very hot, very dry and very windy. Here's a photo of it this season when it was near the end of its bloom cycle.

Planted in August 2020, WW had its first bloom cycle this summer in 2021. I can't say it was very prolific, only producing eight blooms between June 22 to July 8. Hopefully a better show next year.

2022…even less bloom this year, only producing 8 flowers. Not sure what the problem is, besides competition. I counted 8 fans this October so it really should be doing better.

2023 update…even worse. And down in the foliage , the few there were. I only saw 5 blooms and the same 8 fans from last year. Not so wonderful…
