Where I live now, I doubt whether a 'dozer THAT big could even get TO my driveway.

Of course, if that DID happen, I'd be more concerned about my seed collection than the rest of the house.

That sounds like a much likelier scenario to me, too! Rolling my eyes.

We DID get the culvert under our driveway replaced for free one time; a lot of the water pipes in our township were having problems that year, just due to being old galvanized pipe that had been in the ground for umpteen years. Ours was one that broke (this was during the summer, fortunately), and was in the process of being fixed (at our expense of course); then another broken pipe was found by a store down the road and our township "water guy" really wanted to get the crew that was working on ours to go take care of that one first. DH managed to get him to agree to doing the culvert for us... and our job didn't really get delayed very long, so it seemed like a win to us Smiling

Got a nice 16 foot trailer load of composted cotton seed and cotton gin waste yesterday. Starting a new veggie bed for next spring and going to use some into my existing garden too. This stuff will really make things grow. nodding

Goat, that soil really looks great. You should have a bumper crop regardless of what you plant.

We've yet to have frost here so I'm still picking peppers. Just picked my latest batch a bit ago and there are still blooms on it. I've never had anything still going this late in the year. I should be wearing 3 layers of clothes by now.

No frost here yet either, but it has been on 40s at night. The problem is lack of water, but I have been watering and have lots of eggplant, hot peppers and okra. Some green tomatoes as well. Keeping an eye on the nighttime temps and just harvesting as I go. May need to harvest everything but the greens soon.

Just picked a nice basket of lemons which I will take to my friend Saul for his store. The lemon tree is one of my major successes. Starting this time of year it produces lots of lemons for about six months. It long since lost its ID, like most of my plants.

Struggling to keep my new plants alive and adjusting to their new home.

Tony picked a dragonfruit, probably about the last of the season.

A few grapefruit and mandarins are coming along.

We had our first hard freeze last night. It is a cold but sunny day. I am going to take the opportunity to pick and freeze more kale and swiss chard today. Might also dig parsnips. Will give me something to do while hubby goes deer hunting.

Tony got the shredder working and we spent some time shredding dead palm trees. We also began work on as garden bed - kind of a hugelbed as it's the large dead palms that are still to hard to tear apart and shred and lots of kelp. We have a half a trailer of kelp which is now a solid mass due to being rained on. I have lots of old seeds and I'm not sure how many might still be viable so many of them may just get tossed into the new garden. An experiment on many levels.

I'll probably be sore tomorrow but I'm pleased to have been able to work hard for a couple of hours.

This is probably the third time I have written this but yesterday I picked the last bowl of raspberries from my patch.
I ate a few more today but I am going to cut them down this week so there will be no mo.

Buried and covered one rose garden in the past two day so I have only one more garden to do.
I have not been down south now for two weeks, Sharon had trouble with her tanning beds, at work, I had to fix but when I get down there I will see if there are enough corn stalks still standing for a tiny shock and I will turn the heat on down there as it is supposed to hit the twenties at the end of this week.

Tilled the entire garden space a few days ago and as of Nov. 15 still no frost. Forecast for Nov 19 are nighttime temps in the mid-twenties, so winter is coming. Roses are blooming as are several other flowers. When the tomatoes and peppers were pulled they all were loaded with blossoms; even a couple of green bean plant volunteers were growing and setting on blossoms. Crazy fall.
