August is party month for us. Dad on the 8th, my brother on the 27th and me on the 31st! Party, party, party!

And there's only an 80% chance of rain tomorrow and 100% chance on Thursday. But you know things are serious because they moved the Buccaneers game from Thursday evening to Wednesday evening. Hilarious!

The Bucs don't want to lose any of that revenue! Hilarious!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BOTH MELANIE AND PAM!!!!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!
I say it early as in all the hub, bub I may get busy & forget. Also we may be without power.
It looks like that's really going to be the biggest effect from this storm - trees & branches coming down on power lines.

Someone just posted one of those "Are you old enough to know what this is things" on Facebook and it was an old can opener and bottle opener combo. And I was thinking how much people will be wanting one of those when the power goes out. All that canned food won't help if you can't open it! Rolling on the floor laughing

I still have those items. I use my can opener all the time, used it today as a matter of fact.

Hey! Lots of canned food has pull tabs on the lids now. So no worries. I also only use a hand operated can opener.

We've had nearly 5 hours of pretty steady rain this evening., maybe a taste of what's to come?

I fried my brains working on weeding the pathways between raised beds at the school garden yesterday. Thigh high crabgrass, mixed in with fire ant nests in all the open areas. Making progress, but darn it, now it's kind of nice and cool but it's . . well . . raining!

Happy Birthday Mel and Pam. It was my eldest son's bday yesterday so grilled burgers in the rain for him. I remember 31 years ago on his very first bday we were having a tropical depression, after the babies asleep turned into an adult Hurricane party. Hurray!

We finally got our new shed up and new roof, trimmed back all our trees real good, so we're ready for the storms! Need to see if anything leaks Crossing Fingers!

Wait, 31 years ago...do you mean Hurricane Elena? Because that was the one that ruined my McDonald's party when I was 6! Back then, Mom had to try and call all the parents on their land lines to tell them the party was being moved to the next day (luckily, Labor Day that year). Then, to make sure no one showed, she went to the McDonald's. I refused to believe that McDonald's would close for business so she took me with her just so I'd shut up. (Can't blame her). I still remember seeing street signs spinning around like a top. And the McDonald's was CLOSED! That's when I knew things were seriously wrong. Rolling on the floor laughing The party was had the next day with great success and we still have it on VHS around here somewhere. It's mostly me asking when I get to open my presents. Things haven't changed much. Rolling on the floor laughing

Thanks for the birthday wishes and stay safe, everyone!

I guess that was the one, he was born in 84'. Not as bad on the East coast but I do remember our house was small, our first home in Orlando and I had wall to wall people since raining so hard outside. Husband had to pull grill to garage so he wouldn't get so wet.

Funny you mention VHS, that party is on a VHS tape and I sure would like to watch it again, along with many tapes of my boys in their younger years. Wish I had a player, no one I know does anymore. Sighing!

Yes, Happy Birdie! Nice new bird feeder you got there, too.

Sherri, you can get your videos transferred off those VHS tapes onto DVD's so you can watch them on your computer or TV. Walgreens and Costco both do it, and there are lots of other services online. I just googled "transfer VHS to DVD" and got lots of hits. Best Buy also sells a gadget you can buy to do it yourself at home if you have a lot of tapes.

Thanks Elaine, I've been looking into that, asked my son for help. I'd like to do it myself if I can, I do have a lot so can get quite expensive. If anyone has done it and has recommendations, I'm all ears.

I haven't done it yet either, Sherri. One of those "I must do" things not gotten around to yet. Hmm, it would make a nice gift for my kids if I put together a DVD of some old videos, though.

I may be 37 years young today, but we have some old stuff in my house. My brother had a friend who helped us transfer recordings of my grandparent's gospel quartet from reel-to-reel to CD several years ago. We gave the CDs out as Christmas gifts to the relatives and everyone we forgot definitely let us know! I like telling Grandma she's on my iPod. Hilarious!

We have two leaks in the ceiling and Dad just got finished tarping the roof. I went out to feed the caterpillars and I felt like I was walking on a sponge. Squish!

Oh gosh! Reel to reel to iPod! That's quite a leap. I bet your Grandma gets a kick out of it too.

Leaks in the roof are a PITA. I'm sorry! Group hug Group hug Can your dad fix those or do you have to call a roofer? You guys have had some major rain events the last 30 days or so. I'm surprised the entire Tampa area isn't paddling around in canoes. Blinking Blinking

Well, on the news there were neighborhoods only accessible by canoe! We have the tarp on for now and will investigate once it dries up. We had some leakage earlier this year near the chimney area which is where this is. Fried chicken from Publix made things better! Hurray!

Chimney areas are notorious for leaking! That's the only thing I regret about having a fireplace. I know that one day we will have problems with the leaking around the chimney area.

We had fried chicken tonight too. Hilarious! Hilarious! I had to make it though but when I make it, I make up a whole bunch & then freeze it (chicken nuggets). Then when we want some I just pull it out of the freezer & pop it right into the convection oven while it's still frozen. 10 minutes & it's as if I just made it only no grease to clean up.
