My father was very I'll this past winter so I stayed with him for several months, and my White Bird of Paradise paid the price of my neglect of my home. It was about 3 feet tall... pretty new. It died away to nothing... all leaves dead.

I cut the plant off about an inch over the soil. I repotted it in a pot with better drainage. The roots have no rot at all and are not dried out. The bulblike parts of the roots had "snap" to them.

Where do I go from here? The compost pile or is there anything I can do to bring this poor plant back? Are birds of paradises bulb plants that will regrow even of there are no leaves? Thanks for any and all help.

White Bird Of Paradise are very tough plants. If it is now summer in your location, sit the potted plant outside . If it is going to make a comeback outside for the summer will help.

Thank you, ScotTi. I will do this. Should I water it or just let the rain do it?

Thanks again.

I would not let it totally dry out, but if you are getting good rains every few days you will be ok.
Daily soggy wet potting soil may be a problem also for a plant in this condition.
