That looks a lot like it, I did submit the photo to the BugGuide.

Some images from Friday...

The female Tiger ST was back. Haven't found any more eggs, though.

Male Black Swallowtail that I released. The upper right wing is a little messed up, but he could fly.

My caterpillar transport service moved another client to a larger passion vine, only to find the leaf I set this Gulf Frit on already had an egg. It just never stops with them!

I thought I posted this one, but I guess I didn't. Here's a female Black Swallowtail I released the other day. Contrast it with the male in my previous post. You can see the male has much more yellow than the female.

I had my first butterfly to make it out of its chrysalis, I just happened to walk by my chrysalis container and saw a black wrinkled mass. It must have just happened. It did not take long at all for the wings to unfold and take their normal shape and the whole time I was taking pictures and trying to make sure it was in the right position for everything to come out right. It is now waiting for the wings to harden. I can't tell if it's a male or female but I feel pretty happy about it.

Thanks Melanie for the inspiration,

Anole

A quick shot just now of the cats, I mentioned earlier. It just seems everybody wants to hang today. We did bring them in as eggs, so I guess it kinda makes sense.

I have a question about fertilizing the weeds. I usually water with MG attached to the hose. Do the more native weeds prefer not to have it??

Pam, native plants usually don't need fertilizer unless there is deficiency in the soil, but a little compost benefits most plants. Smiling

Gorgeous cats and chrysalis you have there, you lucky girl. Hurray!

Hurray! to everyone! Looks like we're all having a great butterfly day! Anole, you have a male in the top picture and a female in the bottom picture! Hurray!

Pam, the ones hanging on the top might be thinking about pupating. They look large enough and Monarchs seem to like going to the top of enclosures.

Bloom County did a Monarch comic and I love it. Hope you do, too!
