I was able to get some great bird photos this past weekend, I was so excited! Since I cropped the photos, you need to click on a bunch of them to see the full picture, unfortunately.

Turn (?) flying....maybe he's hungry for some hamburgers?...or maybe he just made a wrong 'turn' .....awful joke, I know.
Great photos, Kurt and DND - I love being able to see the detail of the markings on the wrens, they're real designer birds. Our wrens are really cute but plainer. And what an exciting array of water birds, DND - some real action shots!

Great photos everyone! I have been so busy lately that I haven't been stalking the birds with my camera. I am hoping to get the family of nuthatches - they are so cute beeping at each other.

Mika, you must have missed my black bellied whistling duck photos from May. They're still around, I see them in the mornings and I think they have a nest somewhere nearby.

I've read about the wood ducks nesting in trees, but it just looks so strange to see a duck in a tree. I guess that webbing doesn't prevent it, but it seems to go against nature.

Regarding the Canada geese...I think they're getting spoiled with our So. Cal. weather. I pass a mile square park on my way to the grocery store, and there are mobs of them still in the park. Green grass and plenty of hand outs. I haven't seen, or heard a one heading north yet.

While I was watering my plants this afternoon, I discovered a nest in my citrus tree. Mama bird was not happy at all, making angry bird noises and within 5' of me. I took a poor shot of the nest, there are three eggs. Maybe I will get to take a few baby bird shots if Mama bird lets me.
Thanks, Kurt...I thought it was some kind of a duck by it's bill. He was really high up - my DH says the palm is at least 45 ft. and he was making quite a racket...not quacking but definitely noisy. Certainly didn't know about 'black-bellied-whistling-ducks' but now I can say I've seen one.
