Well, you could heat it, but I didn't last winter.

We had one bad week in mid December and I moved some things (Lynn helped me, thank you Lynn) out of there and over to my insulated potting shed. Since that is a wood framed structure it was easily kept in the 50's with a plug in radiator style portable heater. It was only for a week that the temps were down low.

I know some people do heat the greenhouses, but it would have run me a little more on the electricity. Some people store containers of water in their greenhouses to absorb heat during the day and slowly release heat at night. I had considered using one of those insulated pool covers thrown over the top. You know the clear bubble kind with two strong layers fused onto the air bubbles. I think that would work pretty well. When the sun comes out, even in the winter, it really can heat up in there.

What a great looking GH and garden area! That is a really nice one and it did it's job after that really cold spell we had that you are talking about. I see it's not only your play house Big Grin cute companion you have helping you in the GH.
I like your built up blocks and the terracotta chimney flue.

It really is a wonderful play house. I love going to Diana's and playing in it. Thumbs up She has such wonderful, interesting plants growing in it. You should see all the other plants she keeps in her garage during the winter. What a wonderful setup she has. Lovey dubby

Yes, I said it was my playhouse, but truth be known... it's really Jenny Mae's playhouse. She loves it in there Lovey dubby

I do have things that are too big and bulky for that greenhouse. My 4 Citrus & 2 Avocado's live in my garage on cold winter nights, along with a collection of other "weird" & exotic things, that most people haven't ever seen before.

The sign of a true plant nerd...

Just catching up here, so hi to all. Believe it or not, I do have a Sedum collection but just don't pay as much attention to it as other things.

Diana, I was looking at your photo of Sempervivum babies earlier in this thread and it looks like it might be a Jovibarba hirta. That's the rollers. Any chance this is the case and its misnamed?

Hey, all you sedum nuts out there. Have you ever heard of Sedum requieni? It looks like a creeping thyme, but is an actual sedum. Get's maybe 1/4" tall. I got one earlier this year and almost killed it but it is slowly recovering. Anybody know anything about its needs and hardiness? It's supposed to be zone 3 but I'm not sure I believe that.

Twitcher, Thanks for looking at my pictures up above. I'm sure they are mis-named. I had no name and just labeled them "Sempervivum Babies". You are right they look like the roller style babies. If the rollers are in the Jovibarba family, then that's what I got. I'll go with your hunch of Jovibarba hirta. I almost always loose the tags. Between the dogs and the weather, I've never had any durable marking system.

Right now I have a liquid ink pen that works for a year or two on the plastic stick in tags. Eventually they get brittle and break into pieces, so no matter how good the pen, the tags are pretty short lived. Those double pronged metal push in labels are pretty durable. I even bought a bundle of those a while back, but I haven't used them, since I don't have the label making machine. One of these days I'll get it together, somehow, You'd think. Rolling my eyes.
