I'm looking for a distinctive and sturdy rose here in my garden in the Loch Lomond National Park in Scotland.
We have lots of rain so rain resistance would be a desirable quality.
I have been looking at Independence Day, Texas Centennial and Herbert Hoover - said to be good for displays and with a great fragrance.
I have an American Pillar rose and am delighted with it, though I gave it precautionary sprays in the spring against black spot.
The garden is quite sheltered, in a most romantic part of Scotland, it faces south, and has spectacular views to Loch Earn. There are more than 50 roses to look after. Colour matters less than ability to maintain shape. Fragrance also appreciated!
Bill in Rob Roy country.
