It's like a "book mark"!!

This is a companion feature to the thumbs-up.

The thumbs-up is a way to show your approval of something that you like.

The stars, on the other hand, are a more personalized way to bookmark something on the site that you want to follow or find later on.

If there's a post that has a tutorial that you want to come back to, you can star the post.

Then, from your profile, you can click on the number next to the word "Stars" and see all the items you have starred.

Most things that can be thumbed up can also be starred.

Like a bookmark, but different than a thumbs-up? I see 0 on Lin's and 1 on mine.

Ahhh, I see. I starred my own post to check it out, cancelled it now. Love this because sometimes there are fertilizer recipes, ideas or what-not that I know I want to refer back to, so it's a perfect bookmark!

They must only be visible to the owner because I don't see any on Lin's or Sue's pages.

It's visible to all, but if the member has no starred items, it won't show up.

Oh, so maybe I didn't see it because you removed the star, Sue? Cut that out! I'm trying to test this thing.

I did, and I could only see my own. That's why I thought yours wasn't visible to me, but you had removed yours in the meantime.

For me, it frees me to add more thumbs! I didn't want to clutter up my thumbs with things that I "just" liked.

Now, I plan to go nuts with the thumbs up feature, and I can save my starred items for things that I want to find again.

This was my reasoning for talking Dave into taking time to make this feature, and I assured him that others felt the same way- so go thumbing!!

I've been waiting for this!!!! I have soooo needed to "bookmark" things & the only way was to thumbs up those things. Now the thumbs up can mean thumbs up & the star is the bookmark. YAY, YAY, YAY!
Getting everything all organized nice & tidy.
